PaulRevere1991 you can get an oem top/frame that will fit square uppers, but it will only fit the half doors, not the full doors. so if you ever wanted to used the full doors you would have to take the whole top off and switch it with the top for full doors that you would have stored somewhere. Where if you replace your top with another full door soft top all you would have to do is get upper doors with rounded corners.

its up to you really 2 tops/frames and 2 sets of doors or 1 top/frame and 2 sets of doors.

Geoff@Bestop On phone, so short answer:

You need the top that matches your doors. You can not really modify a top for the doors. Most aftermarket tops use rounded doors. Factory top ( and bestop super top nx) use square corners.

444 What about if I get a top/soft uppers with the square corners? The OEM soft top w/ full doors has the framing in that area for the rounded corners. Like I said, I plan to replace the top and buy matching door uppers at the same time, but would I have to change that piece of framing to clear the square corner uppers if I go with a set of those instead of the round corner uppers/top? Or do the square corner uppers use that same frame rod as the round corner uppers?

Geoff@Bestop There is no difference in the frame/hardware for different doors.

On a YJ, there is the door compatibility issue, but sounds like you understand that one already.

There may be significant differences in the frame from your old top to your new top though. Depends on what you have now, and what you buy.

But, for example, on a YJ Supertop, there is no difference for the doors you buy.

PaulRevere1991 yes there is a difference, however i believe if you get the upper half doors with the rounded back corners it will fit the full door soft top frame.

Soft top frame for steel doors vs half doors?

I have a soft top with the full steel doors on my jeep. I want to put on some half doors with the soft uppers. I plan to buy a new soft top with matching soft uppers. My question is, do I need to change the framing for the soft top at all? Is there a difference in the framing between the soft top w/ full doors and the soft top w/ half doors?
