95YamJam I'm glad it worked out!

kj 92yj sorry for the delay in response.... no, stupid me didn't take any before and after pics. but i know i gained at least 3 inches (but probably 4) with the kit. what you gain will somewhat depend on the condition of what you're removing. the springs i replaced acutally frowned with the weight of the vehicle on them.

i will say the 31's look a little out of place on it to me. so i'll be upgrading to 33's soon. i venture to say you won't be happy with 31's if you get a 4" lift.

TC drop was the skyjacker i ordered from 4wd.com. i'll post some "after" pics in a bit here today.

fullberg Glad to hear the TC drop solved your issue. What brand TC drop did you use? Also can you post some pics of your jeep before and after the lift? I'm planning on a lift but cant decide if I want to go 2.5 or 4 inches but I am staying with 31's for tires

kj 92yj ok project update:

installed transfer case drop tonight and all vibrations gone!

whoooo hoooooo!

so, if anyone has vibration issues after installing a lift, i'd recommend starting with the tc drop before possibly investing in a SYE.

kj 92yj seven, yes, i dropped it down before tightening the inner perch and shackle bolts. i did the final torque with it back up on the lift, but i had them pretty tight on the ground. may redo, just to be sure.

buster, yeah lucky! that's great. wish i had the same fortune!

buster01 The Jeep I did this on was towed behind a motor home on a trailer for 15 years. The OD only reads 31,000. There was not 1 scratch on the skid plates and not 1 u bolt had dinged up threads. The guys wife is no longer able to travel. I got lucky!!! I also sprayed every bolt I knew I was going to remove with PB once daily for 4 days before I did the lift. I might not be a genius but I'm not a single cell organism either.

sevenservices Did you set it down with weight on all four tires before locking down the new spring bolts? Wanted to ask, its a pretty common mistake for people to lock 'em down in the air then they shake like hell once back on the ground.

I had to cut 6 out of 8 bolts, used the torches, broke two pullers on the pitman arm, oh yeah, what a blast...

kj 92yj thanks for the responses. i was hoping to avoid the sye due to the additional expense. guess we'll see what happens

Ibuildembig It should be fine with the drop...I never SYE a YJ and have yet to have an issue.
05-31-2011 10:27 AM
NHrubicon Instead of a transfer case drop, you are going to need an SYE (slip yoke eliminator) because of your increased angle. Transfer drop is only an inch, not enough. If your new 2.5" lift is like the one we put on our 94 YJ...the actual lift is over 4 " because the springs are so stiff! SYE isn't that expensive now, and you can get a driveshaft cut down to fit or spend the bucks for a new Tom Woods.

2.5" RC Lift Installed. Now Vibration Issues

Morning all! Didn't want to hijack this thread: (looks good buster btw)

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f8/2-1-...-yj-94841.html

unlike buster.....mine was HORRIBLE to install! had to sawzall all 4 inner shackle bolts. The outside shackle bolts were easy and no problem at all. original steering stablilzer bolt snapped off and had to be drilled out, oh i could go on, but eh...it's over now........anyway....

so here's what I got: new 2.5" RC lift, with their nitro shocks and upgraded steering stabilizer. 3" Body lift and we also learned thru this exercise the PO also did a shackle lift .

Front end seems fine. No shimmies, no shakes, no DW, but rear vibrates like hell. i did NOT do a TC drop, but have ordered one and it should be here this week. i am assuming this will solve the problem, but my question is this: if the tc drop doesn't solve the vibration issues what's next? any ideas here?

oh, and for anyone wondering, i got about 3.5-4" of lift out of this kit and i will have NO problem fitting 33's under this mess once i get the vibration gone. 35's would most likely fit as well, but I don't want to go there.

brake lines are stretched, but not overly tight and didn't need extended. removed the track bar and zip tied. did not reinstall. factory sway bar links did reattach fine.
