Windshield replacement

I need to replace the entire windshield, frame and all. When I went to remove everything I stripped a couple of the screws. I drilled them out, but I had to remove the entire hinge from the Jeep to do it. This leaves me with two questions:

- There seems to have been some kind of adhesive/adhesive strip on the back of the hinges. Any idea what I need to replace it with? Would a latex caulk work similarly?

- The rubber seal (between frame and cowl) seems in good shape, some rust residue that I need to remove. Is there something I should treat the rubber with before I mount the frame again? Should I put something like a latex caulk to make a better seal?

Thanks,

Mike
