gregaf3 Well I made it to Harbor Freight today and I decided against the manual winch, due to the 40:1 ratio, I would be cranking forever.

The 120vac winch was $119, but they had a 12vdc winch for $39 that already came with a long 10-12 gage wire that would work great for hooking up to the jeeps battery once I put some alligator clips on. Also being the tightwad that I am, I used a 20% off coupon, so I got it out the door for $31!!

Hopefully tomorrow I can find the time to dig the welder out and weld up the frame.

Hopefully between using coupons and the 10% military discount at lowes, I can have an electric hardtop hoist built for under $100

Hardtop Hoist

Over the next few days I am going to be building a hardtop hoist for my garage. I already went and got the metal from Lowes to weld up the T bar. Now I just need to get to Harbor Freight and get the winch. I am thinking that I can get this built for less than a $90 with a manual winch and a little bit more if I decide to go with an electric.

Personally I think an electric would be a waste for less than 200 lbs.
