Rutdigger Wow, great work bro. A buddy of mine had an extra one that he gave to me...that's right GAVE. I asked him if he was chewing rocks that day..lol. But, I love the guy so who am I to say no, right..lol. Anyway, so that sleepless nights and the budget are about to take a whack to get where I want it...lol I will post pics when I have it all completed next year..I know, I know..lol

MCE Jason I used weld on hinges from weld supply store for tailgate. I also hauled 1440lbs in it.

JeeperJake great job MCE....I'm a Bantam freak myself...have 2 in the fleet now....they need a little TLC...

Great photos, hope it's working well for you.

I'd love to see more details of the tail gate hinges etc.

MCE Jason The trailer is still working well I have had it in the woods and on the highway lots. I really like how much more stuff I can now pack. It also really adds utility to the jobs of my jeep. I do have some more plans for it… I think I will be doing some frame extending to it this winter…

Really? I didn't see anything wrong with the springs that came on it...

Seriously, I've never see leaf springs look like that before.

ammoniaman Those trailer are awesome, I found one but the asking price is $1200 so I'm going to wait and see if the price comes down.

MCE Jason Thanks for the kind words.

I am building the trailer into a modern classic...

Geoff@Bestop Totally cool. The look of those trailers compared to today's - amazing.

There's this classic philosophy question called the "Ship of Theseus." Basically goes like this: you have a classic old ship that over the many years has had every part replaced - every rope, every plank, every mast - at one point or another over the years, everything's been replaced.

Is it still the same ship?

I have no idea why I thought of that when I saw your trailer.

Tarby Sweet find, I have a CDN M101 trailer. Here is a place that has parts, not sure how expensive for certain things, as they are remans....

MCE Jason Re-welded the broken front top rail corners.

Cut out the rear cross member and replaced it. The rest of the frame has surface rust but is still good.

I will be looking to replace the springs.

I need to rework this.

MCE Jason Got the rusty old floor out and discovered one more floor, and it was more rusty than the first. Jr worked hard and earned his dinner today. The boy loves this old thing.

There is a decal covered in paint on the side it looks like it has a bell in the center with a round border.

Bantam 1946 (elk do not fit in jeeps well) trailer build

Not my jeep but an example of one of my jeeping issues….

I just picked up this Bantam 1946 for $175! It needs some work, but is a great start. I will be rebuilding/ restoring it. I do not think it will be restored as “period correct”, sorry. I will be making it work as best I can for my needs and budget.
