Sunrider pins

I'm been having lots of problems with the sunrider pins coming loose while driving; then you notice it when you go to close it, b/c the roof shifts backwards about 1/2 inch and won't close. ...PITA. I've taken it to the dealer about 3 times; they've tried some adjustments and also a new roof. I think the design is nice, but if the roof doesn't exactly fit just so, those pins are going to pop. Instead of just closing the sunrider in a few seconds (the way it was designed to do), you end up having to pull off the back and side panels from their bottom tracks, then lift the whole top/middle roof bar up...that moves the frame forward, then you can pop those pins back in the hole. Bad news. I'm taking mine back to the dealer AGAIN. They did fix & adjust the roof well the 2nd time, but then the back window was very tight and eventually the zipper tore. They had to replace the roof and now we're back to square one. The dealer and I are still trying to figure out a solution. Jeep will probably need to design a better pin system that holds better. I love the sunrider option, but until they re-design the pins, it's a PITA.

yomondo I would suspect that it's not fully latching in the first place when putting the top on. I had this problem with mine until I learned to (and this is going to be hard to explain) push forward the end of the part of the frame that's in the middle along the sides while putting the top on, and since then it easily and fully latches in every time. You might even be able to do this (although I haven't tried it) to relatch it without removing the windows and sail panels.

I would have the dealer look at it to be safe

Unless you remove the back window. It's important to read all the words. I have found that just partially unzipping the 2 sides of the back window works just as well.

Madwick its not good to exceed 40-45 mph whitht the front laid back. owners manual says do not exceed 40-45 mph.

on another note, my passenger side rattles a lot due to the latch's rivet not being super tight. i've had my jeep since april so its upsetting to me as well.

daggo66 If you've checked to make sure the door surround is properly attached, then I would let the dealer deal with it.

Sunrider top

2011 Wrangler 2door...when I open just the front section of my sunrider soft top, the passenger side sunrider latch bolt releases on its own (I realize this should not be unlatched for sunrider use only, I learned the hard way). As you know, it is a pain getting the sunrider latch bolt back in without removing all the windows and sail panel. The drivers side latch bolt does not come undone, but the passenger side does.
Any ideas why this keeps happening? or should I bring in to the dealer to have it looked at?
Thank you!
