BLK00TJ IMO, the '00 was the best year TJ

But I may be just a little biased. Over 160,000 and running strong as ever with my only big thing being a radiator replacement. I tore up my rear gears, but that was due to my own doing.

jrussblues Pro- other than fender flares it looks bone stock! Good to find if you want to add your own personal touches.
Cons-its a jeep, which means its gonna cost you a bunch of money..

Being that its 11 years old you should practice the mantra 'never replace, always upgrade"

1205club nice ride, welcome to the forum. im new here also but i dont think you anything to worry about the engines are bullet proof (as long as they are maintained) and you have a standard tranny. depending on what you are going to do with it maybe the axles will nedd an upgrade in the future.

What you read is true, that noise you hear when the transmission is in neutral and the clutch pedal up is normal. It's nothing more than the sounds of the transmission's input shaft and bearings being spun by the engine which stop when you step down on the clutch pedal.

Brian S Is it normal for there to be a noise when you let out the clutch in neutral say while you are in a drive thru somewhere? I have read that it is common for this tranny?

Brian S Actually I just fixed a leaking radiator. It was more like a seep, but still, it needed replaced. It was leaking around the seam at the top when put on a pressure test.

doclouie I am pretty sure Keeper meant the exhaust manifold as I have never heard of an intake manifold cracking. I heard there were some years that had exhaust manifolds cracking, but I think that was fixed by 2000. Keeper really hit the main things right on. I have the same year you have with 112,000 on the 4.0. My last 4.0 ran to 249,000 and then it was in a wreck, but the engine was still strong. The rear main seal is known to leak, but I have never heard of it being anything more than an annoyance. My radiator blew up a few months back, but beyond those things not much else to say. Just remember to change your oil religiously and also remember it is 11 years old. Enjoy the new ride and welcome to the club.

XJ Knight Pro's - It's a Jeep.
Cons - Issues with the cylinder head warping causing the Jeep to over heat between 100k-150k miles. Depending on what you want to do with your Jeep and you didn't get it with the D44 rear axle you could be looking at a rear axle swap or super 35 kit in your future

kjeeper10 Nice. Only con I've heard on the earlier Tj is the intake manifold cracking. Mine is an 01. Not sure when they fixed that. Other than that you should be golden. Other things that can happen:

Radiator leak (cheep plastic)
02 sensors depending on mileage.
Rear main and valve cover gasket leaks.

Just bought a 2000 -tell me the pros and cons

I am a new Wrangler owner. It is a 2000 Sport 4.0L 5 spd. Just looking for opinions on the pros and cons of this particular year. Thanks in advance.
