1987 wrangler sorry i already have it done, before i noticed your post. btw, i have my temp gauge working now ! WOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! ive owned the jeep about a year now and never had the temp gauge work till now. i went thru and cleaned most of the connections and like i said earlier, applied dielectric grease and it works now ! i also tossed in a couple of those mini oxygen absorber packs (hot glued in place) like u get in beef jerky to absorb any moisture. its amazing what roughly 20 years of dust, dirt and corrosion amount up to ! .lol.

gauge pod mods, new and old

hey guys & girls,

i am in the process of attempting to fix a non-functional temp gauge per instructions from threads/posts on this site and had to pull my center gauge pod. this got to reminding me of a gauge pod mod back when i was a 73' - 91' chevy blazer man and a mod we did on coloradok5.com. if u take the reflector panel on the inside of the pod and paint it white, preferabley gloss white appliance paint, it causes the gauges to be much brighter. chevy people had to paint the inside of the gauge pod as well cuz ours came a light blue. this mod along with the l.e.d. light bulb addition and with or without white gauge overlays ought to make a heck of a difference. i took the opportunity while having the gauge pod out to clean the housing and dust the gauges and i applied PLASTX clear plastic cleaner and polish to the clear lens cover. i also applied dielectric grease to the harnass connection and to the bulb connections to prevent corrosion. i havent pulled the speedo pod but prolly need to to see if this mod is possible to it as well.
