barberjd Thanks for the reply. Unfortunatley, I purchased it in this condition. I just went ahead and purchased a 42rle(6k miles) from Davey's Jeeps for $450 so I hope that is the best way to go. I'll be sure to add a cooler just for added insurance.

Shelby427 There is a TSB # 2100804, for this code, on the 04 Wranglers.
Can be a faulty solenoid, sticking in the bore, and/or just a misadjusted linkage, causing it.

By any chance did the tranny get hot before this occurred? Seems to be a culprit with the sticking valve.

04 Rubicon 42rle auto transmission code P1776 issue

I have a 04 Rubicon with the 42rle auto tranny that is throwing a code(p1776). You can take off down the road and it will shift fine but when you slow down the tranny goes into "limp mode." You can turn it off/on and repeat the stated steps. The solenoid pack was changed with a new one and now the scanner reads that the solenoid valve is stuck. Does anyone know how to fix this short of a rebuild?
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
