bdirkse Posed this question to a buddy of mine who is a traffic cop in Grand Haven. He said he has a code to write a ticket for no rear view mirror, but does not have a code to write a ticket for no side view mirror. Also said he has never looked for Jeeps with no doors, thus no mirrors, to write a ticket. He was qiuck to add that he was sure there were officers out there that probably have a hard on to write such tickets. With a little more digging, it was my understanding that having a rear view and a side view mirror was a Federal Law.
I have been running my YJ all summer with no doors, but I did add a Cipa roll bar mount morror on the drivers side, just to cover my a$$. Works fine, and only cost $15.00!

LilYeller Look Here for the law. Looks like the side mirror MUST be outside of the vehicle on the drivers side only, no need for pass side one.

ghostdance made it back to indiana.passed several cops and had one following me,didn't get pulled over so the round mirror i have mounted must be a-ok.

You'll like them, that's what I use when the doors are off.

grnd93 Had my doors off for a week, so far no trouble. Waiting for my Harley mirrors to come in.

jeeperman I think the letter of the law is that you have to have 2 operational mirrors - an exterior and the rear-view, or the other exterior...

That being said, I have been driving Wranglers for 15 years in MI with no doors every chance I get and no tickets for only having one mirror yet...

yellowjacket I was told that the rear view mirror will work. I havet had any problems in macomb or okaland con.

NewYJOwner Probably wont fly with rookie cops or sticklers that want to see a real mirror on it. If you live and stay in smaller towns it might not be an issue, larger cities I wouldn't push my luck.
