|MikeMTJ||$5,000...hell yeah! You could take those 37s off, sell em' for 1k. Strip the suspension lift off, make a couple hundred off that. Take it down to 3"-4" of lift, buy some 33's, and you'll have yourself a perfectly comfortable offroading machine.|

This is a Jeep with 6" lift on 35s. (Pulled from JeepForum http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/wh...ke-lift-46712/)
Comparing the clearance it just doesn't match up.
Here's another, total of 8.5" lift on 38s

|freeskier||Either those aren't 37s or there's more than 3.5 inches of lift. Something doesn't look right there.|

I'm not seeing the problem with the Jeep. $5000 for a TJ with "low" miles in clean condition is a great deal. Sure the gears are too high for the tire size, but that can be changed. My 01 had 35s on it with the stock 4cyl and 4.10s. I dropped the tire size considerably, but that combo did not make it a bad Jeep.....it just meant more work was needed.
In stock form it's worth $5k. That means you're getting a decent lift with good coils, nice shocks, and rear track bar, $1000 gas tank and skid plate, $600 seats, $200 wheels, $1000+ tires, $500 worth of SYE and driveshaft, it has front tube fenders not installed, and a rear axle that is worth swapping some alloy shafts in and running 35s on.
When you break it down, you're buying a TJ at market value with a bunch of GOOD upgrades. Other than the gears being too high, it really seems like he put the money in the right places.

|lemonsbw||I'd have to agree on the engine swap. I'd recommend at least the 6. That's what I have and it seems to pull my 33's perfectly fine.|

|kjeeper10||U notice once I got that price out of you the tone changed?? Seems like we all agree if you can get her cheep enough, there's room to improve it and have yourself a nice jeep|

He probably has over 2k invested in the the lift and tires. (I see OME shocks) You could sell the tires for enough to pay for some 33s and put money toward the engine swap.

|6InARowMakesItGo||5k is about a fair price for a stock 97 2.5 with 80k on it. i would buy it but plan on dumping more into it to make it more user friendly. sell the 37s and get some 33s and put the flares on it to make it look normal.|

|SWFLWRANGLER||if you can steal it for around 4-4.5k go for it...|

5k isnt a bad price if you plan on dumping more money into it.. great platform to start off of...
id ditch the 37s for 35s tho.. and then v8 swap.. just saying

$4500 cash plus $1500 +/- to regear, axles, etc. You may have your self a decent jeep
For the $$$$ and that's what matters

|SilentKoala||4.10 gears are the wrong gears for 37's, your rpm's will be way too low, especially with a 2.5 4cyl, and the 44 rear 30 front aren't strong enough for those tires. It is a mall crawler built for looks only, that thing will have no power at all and won't be able to climb even a small incline. You will not get higher than 3rd gear ever. I guarantee that is the reason he is selling it. He is trying to get rid of a poorly built Jeep on you.|

|jcollins||It's kinda far away so that's bout all I've got.. Only thing is that it's a 4 cylinder.. Will a 4 cylinder pull all that weight|

I wouldn't worry about no bumper or flares. Also looks like it has some kind of tummy tuck as I don't see a shovel hanging down. I would check for an SYE. And if there is an SYE check pinion angle and/or for adjustable control arms.

|Captain Paul||More specs and pics please|
|06-28-2011 09:48 PM|
|Phil05LJ||It does look mean but... No front bumper, the front fenders are missing the flares, not a cool look with the holes... What else did the owner cheap out on or over look?? Maybe they didn't finish it due to financial reasons and that's why it's for sale? The most important thing is how it drives, look underneath and take more pics, post them to get more advice. Pics of the undercarriage will tell more. Take some pics of the engine, transfer case, axles, skid plates on the gas tank and t-case and some interior shots. It might turn out to be a good find!|
