I actually helped a fellow motorcyclist out the other day. I was in my 2012 JKU and it started to downpour and I saw the poor guy pulled over on the interstate. I had him follow me and he ended up at his destination nice and dry.

The best is always bolts or nuts that shipped from the factory pre-cross threaded. Sure... We sort those out too, just part of the cost of doing business.

My favorite is the person who seemed really upset that the mesh Bikini didn't stop all the rain storm from getting in. Sorta like complaining your screen door lets out the heat.
I know this is an old thread.

We had a non JK customer buy a "lite shower proof" cab cover not long ago and complained that the interior was wet after leaving it for a week parked while he was on vacation. I asked if it rained much and got the usual "Nah it may have sprinkled a little". Sure enough I googled weather for his zip code they had torential rain for the whole week.

We refunded him of course, but stuff like that makes me chuckle.

TJDiver Just have to bring this back up, because since raptor lining, i have installed the best-top bikini header, and smitty built cargo net, and while my driver and passenger seats stay dry, the back continues to get soaked every time it rains...the holes in the cargo net are to allow air to pass through it and keep the rain out right?

daggo66 I just had an epiphany. Clumping kitty litter.

Celtic All kidding aside, here's a better solution:

Find the 8' patio umbrella (hurricane proof) that we never use anyway because we are always out wheelin. Set the weighted stand in an appropriate place on the center console and secure with angle iron and Rockwell 5 bolts/nuts. Don't forget the lock washers. Cut the umbrella pole to the length where the open umbrella fits down nicely over the top of the windshield and roll bars. All you have to do when it starts to pour is open the umbrella and slide it into the stand. Once the initial installation is completed, it should not take more than ten seconds to get the umbrella up and functioning. A nice finishing touch might be to rattle can the mounting braces and stand with OSHA Yellow so as to not keep bumping against them while driving.

Oh yeh, lightning rod / ground strap to mitigate the lightning issue...

Celtic OK. Let's get real. Tom needs some help and a lot of us are just goofing on him in his time of anguish. Let's talk about a real solution. No tops to put up! Easy installation. Use it over and over!

Here's how it works>>>

Purchase several cases (on second thought maybe a half pallet) of either "Damp Rid" or MaryKate Moisture Absorber. Make sure to follow the installation instructions, like put it all over your interior where it will be exposed to rain when you don't feel like putting the top up. Do not allow any spaces between the plastic tubs.

Works as stated by the manufacturer. All you have to do is dump out the water from the plastic tubs when they fill up. Repeat as necessary.

I guess the drawback is that these products don't say anything about lightning strike protection. Maybe someone could email their sales department and inquire if there is an option or enhanced product that also wards off lightning.

MTH I smell a class action . . .
10-05-2011 11:39 AM
daggo66 Exactly! Why should we have to put up with these leaks just because the top is down?
10-05-2011 11:37 AM
sneck took my top down to go grab lunch, and then when i got back, it started raining.

way too lazy to put the top back up, oh well. i blame jeep, seems like it should be warrantied.
