jeepson33s FWIW, on my 97, i had the KC mounts with the full size lights on them. Granted they were pushed all the way forward but they did work and look good...not squeezed in.

2004_Silver_Sport I'm gonna wait till I get my brackets to order lights. Just so I know exactly how much room I'll have to work with. If needed I could drill out the mounting hole to make it a little bigger so I could scoot the light forward. Kinda like the KC brackets

Phil05LJ dfry and jeepson33s, nice installs! Makes mine look like garbage, thanks a lot! LOL! Only kidding. I did notice that your mounting locations are at the top of the hinge. I think I have the same brackets as the OP's that mount at the bottom of the hinge. I did some measuring and it's hard to tell but the 4.5" thickness of the light would be REALLY close to hitting the center of the hinge. I suppose adding washers could be used though.

Drilled two small holes in firewall, one each just above the ground bolts for battery/chassis. I did this so I could ground each light to those bolts. Then hot wires run to relay.

My KCs are off-road spots. I also have PIAA driving lights triggered by high beams, and PIAA fogs wired to low beams.
I have the off road spots...the slim ones retrofitted with hid's wired through the cowl...I wanted it very clean si it took me ~12 hours for the whole job but well worth the time.

2004_Silver_Sport So does anybody know if lights that are 4.5 inches from front to back would fit with my olympic 4x4 light mounts? Olympic 4x4 Products 802-174 - Olympic 4X4 Products Light Mounting Brackets for 97-11 Jeep® Wrangler TJ, TJ Unlimited, JK & Unlimited JK - Quadratec

Phil05LJ I actually have no idea lol! I got them from Q-tech a year ago. I'm sure that a thin light will fit the ones you ordered, I doubt a thick KC would.

2004_Silver_Sport Ok cool thank you for the info. Oh by the way what mounts do you have for your windshield? I just ordered the real small Olympic 4x4 ones from 4wd since I had a coupon code from them

Phil05LJ Get "spot" lights if you want to see way ahead. The beam is smaller but you can aim them to point to either side of the road to light up the ditches. I have my driver's side light aimed at the road way ahead of the beam of my headlights and the passenger side light is shining just off to the right a bit, lighting up the banks. I also have flood lights on the bumper that aid in lighting up the road up close and the ditch, I can use the bumper lights at all times, the Hellas, not so much, I don't drive at night to often but when I do, I toggle them on and off, pain in the butt but I don't want to blind cars coming at me, but I need to see! Night blindness sucks!

2004_Silver_Sport So should i get flood lights or spot?

Phil05LJ I've got 6" Hellas on my LJ, to be honest, they are covered and I rarely use them but they do light up the hood when their on. They make shields to reduce the glare but I'm gonna make my own someday... I just tucked the wires into the gap at the windshield hinge, it stays in place and looks ok to me, they've never popped out of it. I think you should go with 6", 4" seems small to me, regardless, make sure you don't buy fog lights to mount up high, they would be useless!
