Just wanted to follow up on my experience... I too went the Carcomputerexchange.com route. And there communication does blow! Called me one time to let me know my unit was going to be late. Because they didn't write down my email address correctly. After that, no follow up, no tracking info and suddenly it shows at my door. And the same with me sending my old unit back. BTW their packaging sucks too...
However, the unit I did get looks practically brand new. I followed the instructions, wired her up and have been good to go for one month (1,000 miles as of this morning).
Had I had the time and patience, I would have gone the Dealer route. But the "lovely" service manager here just did not listen and wanted test after test. Meanwhile I am shelling out $$$ like crazy and without my DD. So I got my own and probably saved money in the long run.
But after all is said and done, no issues with the replacement (knock on wood!). I am even running it reprogrammed with a FlashPaq. Just in case though I am keeping my receipt in case Dodge/Jeep/MOPAR ever officially acknowledges this as a significant issue!

I will say that my cold shifting issues went away 100% when I got my PCM replaced at the dealer. Going on 4 months now and not one shifting issue since.

I wouldn't recommend Carcomputerexchange.com. You can read through my threads on here. They sent me a bad PCM. I had to send it back to them at my cost. They sent it back to me and I had to take it to the dealer to get it programmed. ($120) Which they say you don't have to do. The same shifting problem happened, now worse. I called them and they said its not the PCM. I took it to two dealers and both said I needed a new transmission. The second dealer fist said it was the a temp sensor in the tranny and charged me $500 to remove the pan and change the sensor. I told them to replace the PCM ($900) and now it has been fine for about 3 weeks and over 600 miles. The dealer also gave me a bad PCM the first time they tried to replace it. They use remanufactured PCM's as well. Carcomputerexchange.com will not refund my money. They say they checked out the PCM and it was good , So no refund. Bullshit! The person who refunds your money won't even accept your phone call. They just send you an E-mail saying Sorry we will not be issuing a refund and that's it. Ne return emails.
Do your research before purchasing aftermarket. They all have horrible feedback. The name of the actual company is Imperial Auto Exchange. You can read about them on Ripoffreport.com or the BBB.

-Called dealership today. My 06 has 112301 miles on it. PCM not covered under any warranty.
-Called the 3rd party warranty company (warranty gave to me from the used jeep place where i bought my jeep) Nope, PCM not covered by warranty.
-Perform ECM Flash as direct in this thread, went for a test drive and jeep shifted as normal. I need to go somewhere in about 3 hours, so that will be another good test.
-Looks like i may be using carcomputerexchange.com Current price for 06 Jeep wrangler is 369.00
I'll report back here when and if my problem returns.

I just bought my 06 Jeep Wrangler X less than 2 months ago. It has 112k miles on it and last week started experiencing the same problems as others in this thread. I place where I bought my jeep included a 3mth/3000 mile warranty. In the next couple of days, I'm going to take my jeep to dealer and check if the PCM can be replaced under this warranty.

|Carpe_jeep||You guys need to either stand your ground and TELL the dealer what you want or find another dealer. The PCM is under the warranty. I had the same exact problem earlier this year. When i went to the dealer i told them to replace it. They still had to run it through all the tests but they didnt charge me a dime.|

|Toddrg123||I have had my jeep back since Monday. It has been driving well. I am hesitant to write this because I think I am going to jinx myself. Worst part of this is that two dealers told me I need to replace my transmission and I had to make them replace my PCM at my cost when it should have been replaced with the 8 year 80,000 mile warranty.|

When the dealer replaced my PCM, I noticed it was thinner and much more modern looking than the original one they took out. Since it's been replaced, I have had 0 problems with my transmission's shifting.

|Toddrg123||Shocking. They agree with me that it is a bad PCM. I wonder which PCM remanufacturer Chrysler uses. 4 working days till I get my 4th remanufactured PCM (twice repaired from Carcomputerexchange and two from the dealer). If there is a god this jeep will fall off the lift.|

|Toddrg123||Well that was short lived. Drove fine for about 25 miles and engine light came on. P0601 Still drives fine. From what I am reading it is a bad PCM. Yup that's right a bad PCM brand new from the Dealer. Now what? I'm sure they will say the transmission is causing this. I just can't believe this, so frustrating.|

|Toddrg123||Just got my jeep back from the dealer. They replaced a throttle position sensor and it still shifted hard. Then called on Monday and said I needed a new transmission at a cost of $3800. I had them replace the PCM. They charged me another $800. Should have done this right off the bat, but they were telling me it was good. So far it drives fine. Still waiting to hear from Carcomputerexchange to see if they will give me a refund. Just hoping I am done with this.|

Ass soon as I turned the corner after picking up my jeep it shifted hard into second. Another $500 down the tubes. I left it there. I'm sure they will say I need a new PCM, so there goes another thousand or so. I have read hundreds of posts with the same issues and these dealers still don't know how to fix a seemingly common problem.
I am beginning to hate this Jeep. 20,000 miles and this shit happens.
I did get a hold of carcomputerexchange.com today and they said I could get my money back if the dealer changes my PCM. I asked them if they could send me back my original in case I can get some kind of warranty. They said they couldn't because it would already be reconditioned. Which is unfortunate, because they may not even be fixing the actual problem with these things.

Dealer called today. They took the jeep out this morning and felt the hard shift, but no codes when they got back, so they took it out with another person monitoring through an obd reader and found a transmission temperature range sensor in the transmission intermittently sending a fault code. They suggested I replace this sensor. To do this they have to drop the pan and remove the valve body (I think). All cost $500. They say it drove fine on the test drive and are going to give it back to me.
I have read on other post in various forums that people have gone this route just to have the issue come back and it has ended up being the PCM. So at this point I just wait and see what happens.

Got mine from Computer exchange Tuesday. Either they do a hell of a cleanup job or I got relatively new one that they refurbished. Been good so far and have put about 70 miles on it - Highway and City.
But I did get an odd piece of mail from Chrysler(the same day coincidently). Something about ODB issues with 2005 - 2006 Wranglers. And that I need to bring it in to fix.... I wonder if someone there is finally getting a clue that there is a problem?

|JGreen06TJ||I tried the rebuilt PCM from Carcomputerexchange. Ran fine for 3 weeks then check engine light came on with multiple codes. Reset the pcm and it ran fine for 2-3 days then CEL with same codes. Reset the pcm and its been okay for 2 days. Soon as the CEL comes on again I'm taking it to the dealer. I've read some people have traded PCM's with Carcomputerexchange 3-4 or more times. I tried to save a few bucks but since this is my DD I just need it fixed and move on.|

OK, I got it back from the dealer today and it has driven well. They did a seven mile test drive and I put on almost 45 miles driving around doing errands, with no problems. I really hope I am out of the woods.
DarthLego, I got the same one back I know for sure. I put some silicone on one of the plugs to hold it and the silicone residue was still there.

|Toddrg123||Car computer exchange sent back the new PCM. I plugged it in and went for a ride. After a short trip around the block. The engine light came on almost immediately and the jeep went into what is called "limp mode". So I called them back and they told me I would have to bring it to the dealer to get programmed. Pain in the ass. I ended up getting it towed to the dealer and they reprogrammed it for $110. They drove it seven miles and said come pick it up. There were no codes. The dealer sounded like everything was good, but said if something was going to come back it should happen within 50 to 150 miles. Lets see what happens.|

They seem to know what they are talking about and say they have experienced problems with 05 and 06 wrangler PCM's and shifting problems. So I will wait to get it back and try it out again.|

|Toddrg123||Update. My shifting problem has come back. I have put on over 500 miles and almost two weeks of driving with no problems and today the hard shifting when cold came back. Very frustrating. I am still not convinced it is the transmission, but at this point I just don't know.|

Lovely - My dealer is telling it is my transmission temperature sensor, which was noted as a potential issue earlier in the thread. His words, "...we will fix this and do a transmission flush for $800. If that doesn't solve it we will go from there..."
In reviewing the manual for our transmissions I can't believe they want to charge that much! Of course the love taking the money from those less experienced (never done Transmission work myself) And if the transmission acts up after I or someone else does the replacement, they say we need to start all over again. Crap.

Here is an update. Been driving daily since I installed the PCM. It has performed flawlessly. I drive an average of 35 miles per day stopping anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes performing inspections. Transmission has shifted perfect. Saturday I took a long trip to the Shenandoah mountains for some light trails (76 miles each direction) with no problems at all. I have put on over 400 miles so far.
I would say this to anyone who experienced the same problems as me. assuming you are not throwing any codes. If you force flash your computer and it shifts well for a short period, you probably need a new PCM and it will solve your problem. The dealer will charge you about $1000 for this, so getting one aftermarket is a better option.

|OkieOutlaw||My little experiment did not work out too good. I didn't realize that this tranny still shifts first to second even though it is supposed to be locked into second gear (or so I thought). I guess I will also be looking into a new PCM as soon as Toddrg reports back on it being successful.|
