XJ Knight you can go as wide as your rim's back spacing and rim width will let you. So yeah if you wanted to run something that was super wide you could

Rb1boxer_3 I would lk to know whats the widest tire you can put on a jk. 13.50 - 15.50

InvertChaos It may be cheaper to drop down to a 15" wheel. My 33x12.50x15 duratracs were $155 a piece.

I highly recommend the duratracs. They ride nicely, are pretty quiet, wearing well so far, and most importantly haven't gotten me stuck in water mud or rocks.

DonC72 Same here! Pics of stock 18s on the bfgs or duratracs will make my decision easier. Have my 1.5 inch leveling kit sitting here and just need to make a hard decision. Plus, I'm kicking myself, I had the chance to get 4 black rock 16 inch rims for 200 nib and I didn't pull the trigger.

like others, I'm shocked how quiet these are so far. Ride quality is the same as what I remember (from a tire perspective) as the BFG's that I had on my old Suburban... quiet, soft, offers confidence. I haven't yet been in wet weather in the DuraTrac.
This is exactly what am looking at on my '11 Sahara. Have you had any rub issue? Also in issue getting them put on your stock rims? Would love to see a pic of em on your jeep. Wave

DonC72 That's good news. Was it pricey? I have the stock 19s and I really like those tires.

BHall1244 Glad it worked out for you. They will look good on your rig.

aharper I'm sure I will get the BFG All Terrain TA KO tires. I had them on a Suburban and really liked them a lot. I called Discount Tire and can get them for a bit over $900 so think I'll go that route. I'm leaning toward 275/65/18 which is a little wider but about the same height as the stock tires. I'll take a look this afternoon but may want to go up one size to 275/70/18 depending on the look and if everything fits.

BHall1244 I would suggest BGF ALL Terrains if you dont want the HUMM. They are a good all around tire and dont have that super aggresive look like some of the other tires on the market.

Wandell I'd suggest a 285/65-18 which is basically a 33x11.50-18 tire. You will probably have some minor rubbing at full steering lock unless you add wheel spacers.

rics1997 Where you might try to start is with what tire you want. Then go somewhere like discounttiredirect.com just as an example and see what sizes they come in. Example if you like the Goodyear Duratrac they have a 275/70/18 which is 33.2" tall and 10.83 inches wide which will fit on a stock wheel with no spacer or lift. If you want wider you could get the 295/65/18 which are 33.1" tall and 11.6 wide. You get a little wider tire with this one but you will have to add a wheel spacer or it will rub your swaybar.

Not all tires have the same sizes. If you find a tire, 275's are the widest you can get without the swaybar issue and 33's are the tallest without rubbing the fender during flex. 33's can rub though if you disconnect but should be fine if you don't.

Here is a tire calculator so you can compare to your current size.

DonC72 Hiya. Check this thread out. I have the same dilemma. Lots of good responses in there. Take care.

Tire size question

I'm searching the site and I'm finding a lot of questions from people about tire sizes that are also changing their rims. I have the stock 18 rims and need new tires. I want to go as large as I can without making it look out of place on the stock rim. The Jeep is used as a dd for my wife so I will look for something quiet without being too terribly aggressive as we don't do a whole lot of trucking around. Nevermind 33's... what size does that translate to? Stock I think is 255/70/18. Thanks.
