6InARowMakesItGo glad you decided not to do this. thinking of it from his point of view, he would be buying a very low mileage jeep for 4000 and trading in his possibly damaged high mileage jeep off to you. i suppose it's a fair trade if his jeep is in good working condition. do either of you have a d44? but just for a paint job doesn't make it worth the time to settle all the documents at the dmv and what not.

i agree cutting that body lift down to an inch will help with your t-case linkage problem.

jjmontess Don't inherit someone else's problems. Take a class and learn to paint your Jeep.

sparky Keep yours, lose the B/L, keep the blue (everybody and his brother has black) you'll have some distinction.

Why'd you put a new motor in it?
07-12-2011 03:28 PM
missingbite Neither! That blue you have is great! I see lots of black jeeps but that blue is more rare! KEEP IT BLUE! and ditch the 3 in BL.

Nah

head...I'm with the crowd that says paint is the best solution. The mileage difference and the "unknown" aspects of the other guy's rig would make me hesitate. Better the devil you know than the one you don't know. Keep diggin'!!!

JeepCreeper Another vote for paint... and GET RID OF THE 3" BL!
07-12-2011 02:38 PM
BTA88 I wouldn't touch that trade with a 10ft pole.

Unless I owned the black one.

Arch Stanton x2 paint it!

TJWenatchee Just Paint It !

hambubba No way I'd trade his for yours, even with low miles. Anything wrong with that one can be easily fixed with 4k. I smell something here, not sure what you're stepping in...

The linkage is not working.
I bet that linkage would work without a 3" body lift

OregonTJ do not trade for a high mileage rig...........
07-12-2011 08:10 AM
SurfKaster 1st of all that's not a bad deal, but I'd definitely have it THOROUGHLY checked out before pulling the trigger. There could very well be a reason why he's willing to make that deal.

Also, why did he have it painted? Was the original paint faded, had the vehicle been wrecked, or is he like you & just want black. Furthermore, those flat black paint jobs can be had for cheap. You'd be trading a Jeep you know for one with a $300 paint job.

07-12-2011 12:05 AM

07-11-2011 09:34 PM
TjTheo Get rid of that 3 inch body lift on your's then paint it black. 67k but im guessing you were the only owner which is nice, id keep it.

Full agreement with this^
07-11-2011 09:27 PM
leadsails17 I would also have to say no to that, Miles are to much. Just go with the paint job if u want a black jeep.
07-11-2011 08:56 PM
jp'rs_peep'rs In my humble opinion I'd just paint.

dale 3 Miles on a vehicle is HUGE!! Miles is what you can relate to FATIGUE! You'll be replacing more parts on higher mileage.Unless lower miles is used hard and maintained poorly.Mods can always be added.Sometimes bought right slightly used, some people change mods just for a change again.GOOD LUCK!
07-11-2011 08:50 PM
MikeMTJ I wouldn't do that. Trading a vehicle with a new engine for another with 154k? All for a silly paint job?
07-11-2011 08:45 PM
NewYJOwner Could you build up that one to your wants and satisfaction for the 4,000?
I would make arrangements to meet and test drive each others, check it out thoroughly, and decide from there.
07-11-2011 08:42 PM
BLK00TJ I'd just paint. I do like that paint he has. hmmm....
07-11-2011 08:39 PM
headbasha My jeep has about 6k worth of upgrades, i think there is a big difference in the 2 jeeps.

Yea, ive thought about it. I just hate to paint a perfectly good vehicle. The paint on mine looks good, no scratches, dings, dents, scuffs, nothing.
07-11-2011 08:32 PM
NewYJOwner Well, neither is highly modded, compapable in specs, your engine is newer with a warranty, But 4,000 will go a ways to repair any undisclosed problems. Ever thought of painting yours?
