Rogerg I used to have an amp made by Texas star it was cool and all but you hear peeps from miles away sometimes another state. If your out wheeling you keep hearing these guys and interfere with whatever channel your on.You can hear them but they cant hear you ..its just as bad as having static on the backround.I was glad i was able to sell it ...IMHO is was a waste of money unless your into cb as a hobby.

eatdirt Yes Bring the SWR meter, for sure! That would be awesome.

tarheel I'll try to remember to bring my SWR meter when I go to Selma. We can test your radio and adjust the antenna if needed. I need to get a shorter antenna and remount mine on my Tire carrier. I park in the garage and my tip hits the door now. Where I want to put it is about 8-10 inches higher than my current mount above the right rear tail light. Of course I could get a 5 ft whip style and just tether it when I am not offroading

kfdjason7620 Yeah we can test em next Sunday, if I got all of it together, but being all these truckstops in kenly, I should have no trouble finding what I need, as long as my eBay bid holds up a little longer!

eatdirt I just put on a cb but haven't reLly been able to test it so I'm not sure how good it will be. Have to test it out at the Selma run comming up! You can get an amp but from what got from looking around is that it's illegal to go above the 4 watts that are already in the cb. Nobody will really care as long as your not talking over every one. Not sure what it means but I'm sure someone else will come along with better info. I grounded my antenna to my spare tire carrier but I may run a line to the bumper to get better reception if this doesn't work when I finally test it.

kfdjason7620 Thanks alot, kinda thought this was all but just making sure

sparky Mic comes with the radio. You will need a mount for the antenna. Coax sometimes comes with the antenna mount. Look around for some of the package deals, most are coming in under $125.

Thats all you will need.

I am a virgin to the CB world, but other than the obvious,(CB, Mic, a quality antenna, coax, and power and ground) is there anything else?? Some kinda amp or something?? :clueless in NC:
