Afmcronnie I solved the ambient light problem by trading my 2012 for a 2013. My JKUS has a dim floor light whenever the lights are on, and a bright courtesy light when the interior lights are on. Problem solved.

Rockjaw I stuck a match down the fuel tank and produced a terrific all round glow!

No ambient means it lights a large space. Not a specific spot. So like the floor lights light up the whole floor pan. So it's ambient.

Correct. Had my dealer parts guy research this and for whatever reason Mopar has made it unavailable.

oooh Transformers pedals... Now if you can light one up red and the other purple....

rics1997 Just got to watch blue or red lights, some states are strict on that if they can see it from outside the vehicle.

Turbaru I bought 4 - plain white flexible LED strips from ebay. I am going to put one under both front seats, and one under the dash in both foot-wells. I plan to trace down the dome light wire under the dash to tap into.

SwingLo I don't have my '12 yet so can't comment on the ambient light situation in Wranglers, but my Lotus Elise had ZERO light. At night, I could basically see nothing. Imagine stopping hard, phone goes flying. Good luck finding it.

So, I had the stereo shop that did my system install some led lighting on an actuator. It's the cool white color and is hidden (under dash/behind seats). Looks OEM and NOT ricey at all. Basically, it allows me to see inside the car at night - a novel idea. My desired effect was utility, not 'mood lighting'

I have no idea how to wire it in/etc, but any stereo shop of repute should be able to add led lighting at a reasonable price (the LED and transformers are cheap and labor shouldn't take long).

Interior Ambient Light

Ive seen some photos on different forums and over the internet on ambient lighting for Wranglers, some are cool and some have looked like a 5 year old took a neon light and put it under the dash. I was curious to see if anyone had any cool interior ambient lighting mods like they have on BMW's Fords VW's or Mercedes.
