|AmericaOverland||Because they have forgotten the purpose of a Jeep and how that affects what you want put on the Jeep as far as appearances go. Somehow, they were able to keep the boxy shape that I love, but the first thing I would do is either strip off the chrome or have it body-paint-matched. To me, chrome does not belong on a Jeep.|

|Jeepin117||When it's covered in mud, chrome looks just as good as painted. Yeah mine has chrome.|

I like chrome-I've got chrome all over my jeep !!
It blinds the Forrestry Rangers !!

A little bit of chrome looks good and it goes with just about any color.
Chrome is universal.

I'm not a big fan of the all black either.
Bottom line is that Mopar wouldn't make a chrome package if it didn't sell, and Q-tec wouldn't have 20 pages of its catalog dedicated to aftermarket chrome accessories if they didn't sell.
Somebody is buying this stuff. You--and many others--like it. So sport it proudly!
Not my thing, but it ain't my jeep.

Why black out lettering on the Jeep?
I've debadged my entire jeep and couldn't be happier.

|frank70th||IMHO... the all black crowd is just as bad. Every jeep is black this, black that. All copy cats. My best friend has an all black, it looks cool, but I have the 70th anniversary in bronze pearl coat. The chrome accents simply look better than flat black! I swapped out the Mirrors, door handles, loop, hood latch, added euro guards... Ok, one piece of cheese! The putco grille inserts. But i get a lot of complements on those!! Oh, and still keeping black bumpers. Still factory, but when I upgrade, they will be black. I am still looking for trails in southern new England! Maybe my opinions will change with some mud!!|

|jadampowell||When I bought my 2010 Sport it had Chrome hub caps....thank god that was the only chrome I removed them before I left the lot no one saw them and then I went home and removed the JEEP logo on the front grill|

I think it looks awful, personally. I'm even planning on blacking out the chrome "Jeep" lettering on my grille. I also don't like chrome wheels, or even wheels that are just shiny. I want no shiny crap on my jeep--none. Got it? Do not like. Ugh.
That said, I got no problem with it if other folks like it. That's cool. I still think it's neat that we can all make our jeeps however we want, so if you like it, go to town.

I'm guilty. I have chrome on my Jeep. In my defense though, when we decided on a Jeep we wanted one ASAP. Went to the dealer, and the only 2 door they had with the tow package in manual also had a chrome bumper and side steps. Plus being kinda new to Jeepin, we thought it looked alright.
The side steps are now leaning against the wall in the garage, though I think I'm going to have to put them back on to stop the rooster tails of dirt and mud up the side. I'm considering having the steps and bumper powder coated, actually.
Out of the 7-10 Wranglers on the lot, there may have been one or two without some sort of chrome. Several had the full package - grill, door handles, tail light guards etc.

My cousin bought a Rubi about 6 months ago. He told me the first thing he did was have the dealer put on the chrome steps and tube bumpers. He's coming from the shiny chrome Harley crowd so I'm not sure why it surprised me.
The first time he went wheeling with me I told him to take the side steps off and put the Rubirails back on. He didn't and he learned the hard way. F'd up his shiny chrome steps and ripped apart his tube bumper. He tells me, I thought those things would be stronger. I explained to him they are just decoration.
