erickpl What size tires? The 97's 2.5 is no speed demon and if you had hills in there anywhere or any kind of slow grade going up, 65 sounds about right.

I put 4.88 gears in mine and run 33's and I can do 75-80 going down a hill. Otherwise it is about 70 top end. If I want to get somewhere quick, the Jeep stays home.

Shoe The 4 cyl is slow, but not THAT slow. It helps if you keep the RPM's up, it seems to like 2500-3500 rpms.
Do a basic tune up; new plugs, wires, and dist cap and rotor. That should help some. And run some injector cleaner in the next tank of gas. I used a can of BG44 on my daughters jeep and it helped the top end a lot.

Need help with my 4 cylinder 97 wrangler

I recently bought a 4 cylinder 1997 jeep wrangler se.
On the way home i realized it was very slow at accelerating. 0-60 was almost 2 minutes and i topped out at just under 65 mph. About an hour down the road the front right brake caliper locked up. It is being repaired now but i was wondering if it was only going 65 because the caliper was sticking or that is just the top speed. Or if it was a problem someone else had and they tryed something and it increased the speed or acceleration of the vehicle.
