Bonzo1 Ordered the part, under $5. Interestingly enough it's not listed as a part for a 00. They only show it starting in 02. As I kind of guessed a surge/protection device, so not that critical. Thanks again!

The Jeep seems to run fine without it.
That is the number that is written on mine (06 Rubi) and how I tracked it down in the FSM. I guess they have not changed them in a couple years

MY THANKS!!

Or a beer if I ever meet you. I posted this as "what is the sensor above the oil filter". Best guess on here was a "coil capacitor" but the dealer can't find anything like it under capacitor or resistor. The part number on it doesn't bring up anything either. I suspect it IS a capacitor or resistor because it only has one wire in the connector and a ground on it.

In the pictures, the metal part of the mystery part was under the nut on the wiring harness. If you look closely at the pic you can see a bit of orange peeking out.

I tried NAPA too, and they couldn't find it.
My TJ has the 4.0L, AC, 5 Spd, and Anti-Lock brakes.

Thanks!!
