I was on jeep website playing around with building your own wrangler. Only had half doors as an option on rubicon, that doesn't make sense to me.

Dogface I found this web site which sells Mopar parts. Full half door incl inside and uppers for $1523 or so but you have to assemble. Fully assembled for $1700+ Not cheap but not full price by a long ways.

Avalon786 Well mopar website lists doors at $1100 w/o trim inserts. They do have the OEM mopar ones on eBay for a little less (~$900) Then theres paint...

Those look OK but are not Mopar..if that matters. Mopar sells the half door but w/o inside panels. I have not yet seen a price for the complete Mopar half doors but someone guessed at about $2K for a pair and then you need to paint.

spartacus_33 Those are factory half windows. I don't have them... just Googled for them.

Where did you get those

Dogface You could get in touch with Baseline and ask if they are available that way...or maybe there's a way to change out the 'glass' or tint it. I suspect the 'glass' can be changed since it will eventually need to be...
07-29-2011 04:41 PM
spartacus_33 Too bad those RR uppers aren't tinted. Anyone know if the OEM Mopar uppers are tinted?
07-29-2011 02:41 PM
JoeR Just to clarify: There is no discount on the Rubicon for getting half doors because you give up power windows and locks.

Dogface Here are some great pics of the Rugged Ridge half doors sent to me by Tony at Baseline 4x4.com. These look very good to me...and yes, they are paintable. This is their jeep they are mounted on and he tells me that they are solid and don't rattle. The tops are available here too. Prices vary for these but so far this place has the best I've seen... $574/pr as I recall. Here is the web page:

If you mean the plastic window, then, no. They aren't available tinted in order to conform to varying state laws regarding window tint in front.

Half-doors are a purely functional decision. Painted fenders and different bumper, well... You can add heated seats from Mopar (factory) on any JK for a reasonable price. Also can add you own 115v outlet with a pure sine wave converter for about $100 and have a better system than factory.

If you like the factory half-doors them, the above should not matter because you could add it all to a Sport many times over for what the half-doors are worth.

spartacus_33 I'm curious about the windows too. I can't seem to find anything about that rugged ridge windows.

Dogface Got an email back from the RR door folks. They are in Indiana and I guess I won't make the trip to go see them. She said she'd send some better pics and I'll post them if she does send some.

Yes they do. I just emailed the guy at their web site to see if I can see them someplace before I order. Too expensive to ship back if you don't like them...

spartacus_33 The Rubi has the same fenders/bumpers. Rather spend the extra $ on tires/wheels/lift for the Sahara.

Please do post the results. Be sure, if you will, to ask about the inside of the door...if it's finished, etc. I looked at the installation PDF and it was only drawings but looked unfinished...hard to really tell.

Are you keeping your current jeep? Or are you getting this as a replacement?

If you really want to pay $6k more just for those things, I would go for the Rubicon (comes with heated seats ). You'll pay around $3k more than the sahara, but for all the great stuff that comes with the Rubicon $3k is a steal. Just thought I'd give you some suggestions. If you really want the sahara, more power to ya

There is quite a selection of half doors in the Quadratec catalog ... can anyone comment (first hand) on the pros/cons of any of these aftermarket half doors? The 2 piece Superdoors look pretty sweet.
Why couldn't you live with a sport? You could get a sport, add a few fancy things you like about the sahara, have half doors, and pay less. Just my 2 cents

I'm in exactly the same boat.. Curious to see what people say.

Edit: Just looked at the Superdoors and can't really tell if the inside of the door is 'finished', if you know what I mean

They are hard plastic and NOT flimsy at all. Infernogirl brings up another good point - unlike the full doors, they offer a great place to rest your elbow a little higher than the new 2011 armrest on the full doors.

Just call a few dealers and fine one you can go look at in person.
