Mykll I am a VW person, and this is a Jeep forum, so as you will be driving both... Congrats? Just remind your wife when the lease is up it is your turn!

Sammzway Alright boys, looks like I will not be getting a Wrangler after all. Everything was smooth and was ready to pull the trigger on a 2012 Sahara but at the last minute dealer started playing hardball with my trade-in. They kept offering me $2000 less than what Volkswagen offered me. At first the salesman called me a liar and said there's NO WAY Volkswagen offered 2gz over what they've offered, once I called the salesman at Volkswagen and verified, they started shifting their mood and attitudes.

Anyway, my wife fell in love with the 2012 Volkswagen Passat so I will be trading my Z for the Passat and I will take over her 2011 Grand Cherokee. Once the GC lease is over, i'm gonna drive it through their showroom window and leave in the middle of the floor LOL. Just kidding but I was humiliated and embarrassed to be treated in such way. The original guy that we got the Grand Cherokee from quit, so I guess he was the last stand up guy they had there. Okay, enough ranting, enjoy your Wrangler guys. Thank you for all of your help. God bless.

Here are some pictures of what the current driveway setup looks like.

Leases can be great, not for Jeep Wranglers, and not for people whom are not Incorporated(S-corp,C-corp)
My next jeep will be purchased(soon ,hopefully,I ordered a 2012 due 7/28, yeah right Chrysler )

I think your going to get hurt on the mileage, Be Alert. Maybe you should just buy it.
Or buy an 2011 Wrangler ,on 0% financing, then the heavy mileage won't feel so bad.For some reason 80 miles a day work and back seems like a ton.

Good luck, get a Jeep, don't lease, have fun.

Yeah, I drive a lot. I usually do on average 20k a year. The thing is I get tired of vehicles very easily. Your concern is the only reason why I bought my 350z rather than lease it. Now i'm tired of it and want to get rid of it. So I figured i'll try leasing this time and see how it works out at the end. I did the math and i'll have to fork out $3000 in over mileage charges end of the lease if I decide to return it ORRRR just keep the Wrangler and buy it off end of lease. Depends on how much i'm still in love with it or NOT in love with it lol.

Taking the top off will end up with scratches, and dealers want the lease to be perfect when they get it back. A wrangler just isn't a great road vehicle. It is more for fun. A GC will offer a lot more road comfort. If you want a fun off road vehicle that is more capable then the GC off road and less capable on road then buy a Wrangler. If you want more comfort and a lease option then get a leased GC.

Sammzway Thanks for all the input fellas. I appreciate all the help. I'm suppose to have a sit down with the dealer tomorrow. Depending on what kind of deal he cuts me, i'll make the call.

wrangler0 It's definitely a rougher ride compared to the GC....take one out for a test drive. Drive it on some uneven pavement if possible, you'll really feel it!

You won't get anything near 450-500 per fill up....more like 200 and change, close to 300 if you do a lot of highway driving.
Fill ups now a days cost me around $70 in the NYC area.

All that said....I LOVE my Jeep and wouldn't trade it for anything!

chipmaker My 10 Rubi is lifted w/ 35s and I commute in it daily 52 miles a day. I think it is fairly comfy and quiet w/ the hardtop. I am trading up for a 12 in Nov.

Planning to lease 2012 Wrangler - need opinion.

Hey folks, I've been on JeepGarage.org for a few months (ever since we leased my wife's 2011 Grand Cherokee). Everyone has been extremely helpful with our adventure thus far. The dealer we leased our '11 GC from was amazing and the salesperson have been awesome as well. Anyway, i'm very impressed with my wife's GC and the new V6 pentastar engine. MPG is very good compared to the weight and power of the truck.

I currently drive a Nissan 350Z and my commute to work is about 80 miles round trip. I get about 23mpg or so mixed driving. I'm looking to replace my 350z (trade it in) with a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited. I'm tired of driving a two seater that is low so I would like to change things around. This is the reason why i'm planning on leasing the Wrangler so I can get rid of it in 3 years for something else. I get tired of vehicles very easily.

So my question is, how much does it cost to fill up the new Wranglers from empty? It takes us about 80 bucks to fill up the GC from empty and we get about 450-500 miles (mixed driving). Also, is the Wrangler a rough riding truck compared to GC? Is it comfortable to use it as a daily commuter or rather a off-roading weekend toy? Should I lean towards Wrangler or just go with another Grand Cherokee?

Any other things I should know before going to the dealer for a test drive and price dealing? Feel free to advice guys/girls. Thanks in advance.

Sam
