I also got the Rampage locking fuel door—you can get it as a combo w/the Rampage locking hood catches from Qtec.

You're right pluke the 2, it can easily be ripped right off. Plus it was a bit of a pita to install, getting those stupid microscopic screws in around the edge. And it doesn't seem that sturdily built. And I didn't like the semi-gloss black finish (didn't realize until it arrived), which I promptly fixed w/a few coats of plasti-dip.

I went with the Rampage b/c I wanted a fuel door of some kind, didn't want to mess w/taking off the tail light etc. (à la the Mopar fuel door) or drilling, & I definitely wanted the Rampage locking hood catches (hence the combo from Qtec).

augsburg I watched the Terraflex YouTube video showing how to install. I bought the Mopar unit off Amazon. Install was very easy, only 10 minutes tops. The alignment pin on back of the flange was at 9 o'clock - which fit the hole in the sheet metal of my 2014 JKU perfectly. Quality seems pretty good. Fit to the body panel is good. Door hinge seems to work good - not loose.

He has great installation video I used to install mine.
I think I bent the body panel a little because I had a hard time lining up the screw holes. And the screws I think were plastic! Anyone know how I can get replacement stainless steel black screws? I got three of em in but the fourth one I just stripped out trying to wedge it into the hole.
Goto Lowe's or a hardware store.

Ol Tex Howdy,
nope, I used a metric smitty set. By the way, those were the worst illustrated directions that I have ever seen!!! It is easy to tell when it is tight without breaking the plastic. Have a goodun!!!!

Is it necessary to use a torque wrench?

I work at a Jr. High. I'm not worried about 'em stealing gas. I do, however, worry about foreign objects being inserted into the fuel tank. Locking fuel door is the first mod I'm doing on my new Sport.

El Gringo I got a rugged ridge one for my birthday, but I think their quality, what was there, is crap. This thing looked like grabage. the faux screw heads were just little round dimples. no fake hex or anything and its really thin and the bottom wasn't even painted all the way. So after parents apologized for getting my something so cheap I said it wasn't their fault and we called the "authorized" reseller and complained he said send it back, but it took 6 weeks to get there in the first place so I took matters into my own hands.
I bed-lined it and drilled and secured the door in place with actual bolts that go through the body. It looks pretty bad ass I think. All in all not bad for about $50 and a couple hours.

My next investment is definately a fuel door. I would like to buy the Morpar fuel door to keep things original.

Yep, installed door sills on all my Jeeps within the first few days of ownership!
Another one of those things the factory should do.

Whoville Islander Our Mopar gas door has given us no problems. Looked at alot of comments on other doors and found only a few people that would recommend the ones they bought. Seems that most had issues with the door hinges loosening up. Ordered ours from Ebay. Dealer back east had great deals on them. As far as the loose fit goes, I put a couple a dabs of silicone behind the flange when installing it and also from behind the taillight. No more little shimmy in the cover.

seadog I bought the Rugged Ridge one w/lock. POS. First time I went to get gas, the lock wouldn't unlock. Finally got it open, but now I have to leave it unlocked. Easy install, looks good, quality lacking.

daedalus I have the Mopar fuel door and I'm happy with it. It's good quality and the Jeep looks like it came straight from the factory that way.
