acopsy88 yeah some times it will scratch shifting in to 2nd but on 3rd and fourth it goes in ok sometimes i jus usually hit the right rpms and it goes in

acopsy88 The clutch is considered a maintenance item so it wont have to be done at a shop. If not my jeep will just have "magically" become ok.... you know how that foes...

Triple88a First ask them to make sure that if you install the clutch in another shop.. if it will void the warranty..i'm pretty sure they will possibly try to say something

Does the clutch it self slip or anything?

acopsy88 I went to the dealership they said the clutch was burnt up? They were going to try to charge me 900 dollars. So i ordered a new clutch and am going to install it my self. If it turns out to be the syncros how much do they run new? installed? Thanks adam

richp Thats usually the sign of worn synchros, at least in the last 2 trannies we had to do. First became unusable, then 2nd, at least with the AX trannies, the NV's might be different, don't know. If it is an AX and they put normal gl5 gear oil in it then the synchros are a strong possibility.

Triple88a but if its the clutch it wouldnt have problems going into gear.. if its not engaging it should be grinding then.. wird man.. keep us updated on what they say.

Hard shifting in my 01 tj

Hi I am having trouble with my 2001 jeep wrangler. I do have a 4inch rough country lift on it. My problem is i have problems going in to 1st and reverse at a dead stop. Some times i will even have to shut my jeep off to get it in to gear. Now it has became even harder to shift and hit the gears. They kind of pop in and pop out. The weird thing is sometimes it will shift allright and sometimes like crap. I am debating taking it to a mechanic i am pretty sure its not the transmission im leaning to the clutch or possibly a slave cylinder (if a jeep has one)Also could it be the linkage or the bushings around the shifter from the bottom.. any help would be greatly appreciated adam
