I think I'll head out this weekend and see what the jeep can do I'll get pic taken, don't have any yet.
drive great on the street - so far I've only driven it from the shop to my work about 15 min away.

just got back from Joe's shop after picking up my jeep. The 5.5RK xfactor is installed and they did an excellent job as usual.
The "short arm" version of the jeep medic engine skid fit perfectly with the RK long arm tcase skid.

The Jeep Medic is the way I wanted to go I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a better option. I'll be interested in seeing how the SA skid works with the LA kit. I downloaded the instructions today off their website and it looks like a mod I might actually be able to do myself.
I'll wait to see how Ben's goes on before I do anything.

|1BLKJP||Joe confirmed my earlier comments today. There is no oil pan/tranny skid that will "bolt on" to the RK skid with no mods. Ben has some great advice.|

The jeep medic engine skid bolts in the front to the bottom of the engine mount brackets on the frame. There are a couple of pre-existing holes in the engine mount brackets that are unused that the Jeep Medic engine skid bolts to.
The back end of the skid bolts to the RK crossmemeber skid... basically, bolt up the front of the jeep medic skid loosly first... then, with a floor jack, jack up the back end of the jeepmedic skid untill the skids bolt holes are tight up against the bottom of the RK skid. Then drill your holes. Be sure the skid is not interferring with the exhaust before drilling the holes.
Since the skid is essentially bolting to the frame (engine mounts are on the frame and, of course, so is the rk skid), body lift amount should make no difference at all.
Here are the jeep medic installation instructions and they specifically reference the RK x factor lift at the very bottom paragraph.

Also, the jeepmedic skid is sold in a couple of different sizes. I have the "short arm" engine skid and I plan to reuse it with my RK long arm lift. Jeepmedic also sells a "long arm" engine skid but I think that is meant to be used only with the RubiconExpress lifts (the RE tcase skid must be positioned closer to the front of the jeep because the jeepmedic "long arm" engine skid is shorter than their standard skid). I'll let you know if I have any trouble fitting my "shortarm" engine skid with the RK long arm tcase skid.

Thanks for the info Ben. I searched over on ROF and found some threads about some guys using the Jeep Medic. That's actually the route I'd like to go as it's basically one piece that protects both rather than two separate pieces. One thing about the Jeep Medic is I'm unsure if a BL is required. I don't believe it is but I'm still unsure. Also are there any modifications needed to the RK skid or the Medic skid to make it work other than drilling the holes in the RK skid?

Joe will be putting the RK 5.5 lift on my rubicon in a couple weeks (yes, he talked me out of stretching my daily driver ). I plan to reuse my existing Jeep Medic engine skid. Will require drilling a couple holes in the RK tcase crossmember skid. I know other rubicon owners whove done the same thing with their RK and jeep medic engine skid setups
the jeep medic engine skid is 1/4" and weighs about 60lbs. Covers from the engine to the tcase

|1BLKJP||Probably mentioned the Turbo City oil pan skid to you that sticks on to the pan itself and up both sides. Great little product that has been on his and Hackles for about 4 years now and no issues.|

That would be great Jack. I talked to Joe about it awhile back but we only talked about the oil pan. He mentioned one and I can't remember the brand name. I do recall him saying that it didn't bolt on though. If I do something I'd like to cover both in one pass if that's possible.

RockKrawler - What skid plates...
With the RK LA lift what are my options for a transmission and oil pan skid? Do any of the engine skids bolt directly to the RK skid? Jeep Medic? SkidRow? ______?
If you look underneath the transmission and oil pan have a big ol' bulleye on them and I'd like to cover them up.
