OK! They are footman loops and were original Jeep parts used for the storage of windshield and/or side window parts.
I've seen these on old (horse) buggys but never knew..or have forgotten what they were called. Thanks a lot fellas.

The windshield one is also used for a lot of Bikini tops. Very useful.
The ones on the floor just behind the seats -might- be from an old Windjammer or similar. We include them as an option: if you put the footmen loops on the floor, you can really get the Windjammer nice and tight.

|Frocambro||Originally they were to tie down the bar that connects the windshild to the sport bar so you had a place to putthem when your winshield was down... i actually moved mine to the back for tying down cargo and what not....|

|drhodes||The one on the hood is to hold the windshield from moving, or maybe a shovel the two in the back are for a bikini top and on the floor I use them for keeping wires out of the way! The one on the windshield is also to keep the windshield from flying around while its down/another kind of top.|

|yj93ben||Guys, I just went and looked at my 93 and 87 and both have them also. I have no Idea what there for. I know the one in the middle of the hood is to tie down the windshield. I got to assume they're some kind of tie down. For what, I don't know. I hope someone can come up with a logical answer.|

They are extra taps to tie things down. Or whatever you can think of using them for. Work great to tie down flash lights and othe gear.

What is this called & what is it for?
93 YJ 2.5L, 5spd Man
Doing a floor repair, driver’s side, similar to what has been written up and pictured so well here in the past. But I haven't seen this item and would like to know what this piece of hardware is called and what it is used for. My first thought was to secure some kind of floor mat, but I really don't think so. The carpet in this Jeep is held in place with velcro, but that is probably not original either.
First try on pictures so hope it works.
