If it's velcroed on then it can't ground. I'm going to guess that the light is meant to be bolted on, and would normally ground through the bolt and body of the vehicle, just like the stock tail lights. Either figure out a permanent bolt on solution or get something that has a two wire lead.
I would maybe poke around superbrightleds.com for a more permanent solution. I've been thinking about buying a piece of LED ribbon and putting it on the metal lip under the rear valence.

|freeskier||Well the trailer light should have two wires, hot and ground, unless it's suppose to ground through the chassis.|

Third brake light wiring
OK - so I have a 97 wrangler TJ and I removed the spare tire when I put on bigger tires. With the spare tire I also removed the tire mount and the third brake light. Since then, I moved to Utah and I can't pass inspection until I have a working third brake light.
I picked up a trailer light and Velcro'd it on for inspection but when I connected the one wire to the two wires I have existing, my light doesn't go on. Any thoughts?
