moscoeb Have pat give you a quote of 2% under, walk in w that and tell them to match or beat. That's what I did and ended up with another 750 off when all said and done. Most have never heard of it, just tell them it's a preferred pricing deal.

Don't forget about tread lightly to get your 2% below invoice pricing!
I've talked to a few dealers I my area, but none seem to know anything about TL. Wish I lived closer to Pat @ Fields! I've already received one offer at 1% under invoice so I might try to see if I can use TL to get it down some more. We'll see.

Anyway we are thinking it over and if we decide to move on it, we need to figure out if were going to get a 2011 or a 2012. From all the reviews I've been reading on here, the new engine is much better than the old.
I sold my TJ for my JKU for family reasons (girls all seem to need alot of stuff when they go anywhere ). I was bummed at first cuz I thought I'd miss my TJ. But, the JK is awesome! A little bit of work and it beats the TJ hands down. The longer wheelbase makes it a bit more stable on the trails and dunes. It don't fit in the tight places the TJ did, bit it's awesome!

bigegriff Yeah I saw some of that. I'm planning on getting the 3.73. I'll have to check back into those threads and see what the latest is. Thanks!

moalder I've had a YJ, 2 TJ's and now a JKU. I got rid of the TJ when I had my son 4 years ago, it just didn't work for me having a baby. I have driven 4 different cars/SUV's since then and they suited my needs as far as space and usefulness but they were just freakin' BORING! My son is now 4 and I decided to get my joy back. I bought my JKU 2 months ago and I the only reason this is going to make any sense at all is because this is a Jeep forum - I feel like myself again for the first time in almost 5 years! After driving inferior, boring vehicle after inferior, boring vehicle after inferior, boring vehicle after inferior, boring vehicle, I can tell you my JKU drives like a Jeep AND my son LOVES IT! We vacationed in Hilton Head last month (9 hour drive each way), the JKU did great, was comfortable for everyone and carried everything we needed for the week with room to spare. If you are a Jeeper, the JKU is a fantastic choice!

andreafahy01 I don't have my own children, but I've hauled plenty of others in our JKU with no complaints from adults or children! If the kids are as chill as their jeeper parents, they should be find and ought to not be demanding 9 square feet per child, plus one tv screen per child, individual air control etc. etc.....

The TJ has been paid off for years. I'd love to keep her and get a new one, but unfortunately that's my downpayment. Plus, with the kid and other stuff going on, I just don't get her out in the mud enough anymore.

derfC My whole reason for buying a JKU (as opposed to a 2-door) in the first place was b/c we were expecting our second child & I needed something with a back seat

We took the Jeep on vacation & I managed to cram a weeks' worth of luggage plus a TON of baby junk (jogging stroller, pack-n-play, etc, etc) in the back & I could still see out the rear window.

We drove it over to my uncle's farm some 3+ hours away this past Fathers' day. Took it through all sorts of rural & unpaved roads & the baby slept most of the way... I suppose the rear seats are comfortable enough

Arebee We have two girls, 7 and 11. Until the 4 door came out, a Jeep was not an option with two young kids. We recently took a 3.5 hour trip to go on vacation without any issues. That may not seem like much, but my kids get bored fast, but they enjoyed the trip more than they ever had. While on vacation we met up with friends and had two adults and our 11 year old in the back seat comfortably.

moscoeb Went from a tj to JKU when found out second one is one the way. The second doors give you great access to the little ones, back seat is ok as far as comfort, could be better but not horrible. The "trunk" space is great for all the extra crap needed for everyone. I am extremely pleased w offroad capability, but because of the longer wheelbase you will high center more, just have to be aware and wheel accordingly. But you also have some benefits to longer wheelbase.
If you need mote room but still want a jeep, then you will be extremely pleased w a jku

x 2 - long trips with 3 in the back are rough on those in the back. Haven't traveled more than 2 hours with just two in the back yet, but I think the'd be fine.

For those of you with familes...

My first thread! For those of you with growing families, I'm thinking of trading in my 97 TJ 4L for a new JKU and I have some questions.

How does the JKU fit your familial needs while still being true to your Jeep heart? Would you consider it a good alternative?

Are the back seats comfortable?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
