|Dempsey||I installed a YJ 2.5" OME Lift on my cj and like it very much. Probably the most expensive but it has a nice ride and really good flex. That lift and a 1" Daystar body lift should get you pretty close on 33's without rubbing even when flexed.|

Point of fact, with my RC lift so far it looks like I am gonna have rear DS issues. It sticks way out of the x fer case and IMHO it's too much and I'm not taking a chance on it. I can't understand why becuase it's only 2.5" but...It looks like I gained 3-4", plus the 1" shackles... Personally at this point I am just gonna have the rear ds lengthened at a local driveline shop, price there is about $125.
I was looking at the bds kit but some local guys are running and hard wheeling the rc kit and are not having any issues so for the difference in price i went the route i did.

Yes the kit was complete. They call it a 2" kit. But I got 3" out of it. Call BDS and ask for the nearest dealer. They will deliver it to them for free.

|ed0985587||Thanks for replying. What exactly is the SYE stuff if i raised higher? That was also one of my points that i wanted to stay around 2.5 ...i dont want to have to screw with the drivetrain stuff except for maybe brake line extensions IF NEEDED. Dont want to have to regear etc. 2.5 and 33s would be perfect for some trail riding i want to do|

I'm in the middle of a 2.5" rc lift. Here is what I am dealing with.
I am running a 32x11.5 tire, before the lift I had 1" boom shackles, 1" body lift, fender flare trim, and the rear flares raised 1". I have no trac bars, and no swaybars, also no bumpstops(rusted off), extended front steering stops as well. Off road it did really well. It did however slightly rub here and there. Really all i needed was new stock springs but for the money I decided to go with the 2.5" lift from rc with the stock rc lift shock option.
When my jeep is not in the garage(lol) i daily drive it. I like to keep it as low as possible as well. I am mostlikley never gonna run bigger tires even though with the current setup 33's would clear fine. I am running a rear locker so with the 32's thats enough stress on the d35 as it is. Also I have a rock crawler project in the works so really this will only ever be a street jeep and a light wheeler that why the descision on the tire size comes into play for me.
Now here are some observations so far. I had to redo the rear brakeline after the last wheeling trip so I had the rear rubber line from the frame to the axle made 5" longer. Glad I did becuase even with my setup it is just long enough with some slight slack.
I'll have to post some more infor when I get the lift finished and test it out.

|RLaFitte||Afterv talking with a few guys who have tried the lifts, I think I will opt for a Skyjacker 2.5 inch lift kit. It costs more but will be all I'll ever need.|

You have lots of kits to pick from. In most cases the more expensive kits include a few more items, such as brake lines, or sway bar disconnects. Thus you need to shop around to find the most complete kit in your price range. Another thing you may find is that the 2.5 and the 4" kits are price about the same or close to each other depending on who makes it. Thus if you thinking about 33's down the road, you might want to consider a 4" lift, but with that you need to think about other parts, SYE kit , longer brake lines, etc etc.
You can also get into higher priced kits that will ride much better such as old many emu and then there are customs springs such as deaver and alcan, but double or tripple your budget for them.
As for shocks, again mixed bag, the ones that come with most kits are avg. you can upgrade them or get into high dollar ones that will have different levels of adjustment.
Installing a leaf spring lift is about as easy as it gets. However if your YJ is like mine and mosts folks, expect it to take twice as long ,as something will be rusting in place and need cut out or not fit right.
In the end on mine I went with a 4" RC lift. Its very basic, and for a weekend toy its fine. If I drove it daily I would have gotten some different shocks for a bit smoother ride. I run 33's with it.

Suggestions on a 2.5" lift
I know I am pretty much beating a dead horse with this type of post but I have decided to do a 2.5" lift to my YJ 2.5L since the ride is rough and I need new shocks anyways. It currently has 31" BFG all terrain tires on it (stock height) and may go to 33" tires max in the future after these wear down. I don;t know a lot about this lift stuff but I am trying to learn and get the theory down.
A lot of people keep telling me stuff like "get a 1" body lift and 2" shackle" 2" spring this and that....etc
What would be the ideal setup I would need to do the lift? I could install it but I just really have no clue what exactly I need.
I want to go with a teraflex / RE or something similar. Want a kit that comes with decent shocks. Can someone tell me the exact parts / kit I will need to get this done and maybe post a link? I just really have no idea what to get.
Would a 2.5" kit not come with everything I need? Why would I have to get a kit and get other things like shackles as well? Trying to make sense of it all.
