i think that you slide the lock clip away from the light housing to disengage - then you can unhook the connector. don't quote me on that though since mine is removed (red clip) and currently residing in the glovebox - yeah, not sure why either.

|mvarnell||worked like a charm. The broken bulb fell out on the driveway and actually cleared the way for the new one to fit right in. Thanks for all your help. Now I have a second question if your still reading this. the chords into the light have a little red switch that looks like it is supposed to lock the wires in place. on yours is it pushed down or up? I was playing with it trying to get open the case before I posted on here and can't remember which way it was before I started.|

|quadna71||i was able to catch the edges of the plastic lens with fingernails - like he said it just pulls straight out. i usually pull the plug on the light before wheeling and before washing under the hood. when wheeling it sometimes get water up in there and i don't want to blow the light when i open the hood - same thing for washing the engine.|

|Kingsblue||Well,.. I just did this exact thing a few minutes ago. If you pull on just the clear plastic lens it comes straight out. Maybe a flat screwdriver would help. The bulb is the long skinny kind with the loops at both ends. I used needle nose pliers to pry the metal tabs back to get the bulb out. Same for putting the new one in. Not really sure if thats how you're supposed to do it. I had to bend the tabs back out when it was in so that it made good contact. Hope this helps.|

How do I replace the bulb for the Under the Hood Light???
At the risk of sounding extremely dumb I though I would ask...How do you get in the little box to replace the bulb on the under the hood light??? I have looked in the owners manual and pulled and pushed on every part of it I can think of and can't for the life of me figure it out. I am new to wranglers and don't want to break the thing but at the same time I have a pet peve for lights like this going out. If anyone can help I give them major kudos!
