G54 Had the Crown on my LJ with 33s and beat on it pretty good with zero issues. Seemed pretty heavy duty. I upgraded to the OME stabilizer. Not necessary buy it's a cool yellow color.

Just make sure they don't give you the rubber bushings. If they do send them back and get the upgraded poly ones. They did that to me and replaced them promptly and with no problems. Great customer service.

Moroney167 Installed new crown steering. Went AWESOME and easy. Steering is great and fixed all my bump steering issues. for $190 shipped I feel over happy to have it all working again right. Baseline 4x4 I can say good things. Shipped in 2 days.

Moroney167 Very sorry I meant that. Said them backwards. My tie rod is level now so it has to be no matter the knuckle. And yes by going to this crown steering setup my drag link will be parallel to my track bar which it is VERY far off right now.

Has to be amazingly better than what I have. And I figure how can the lower mount for draglink be any different than stock being it still leaves it perfectly parallel to the ground which is to the drivers side knuckle which is stock. Know what I mean? For now has to work. And when I get knuckle I can sell entire teraflex kit out an hopefully have money in pocket.
No, I don't know what you mean because the draglink has to be parallel to the trackbar, not the ground unless the trackbar is parallel to the ground. All you're going to do is continue to have bumpsteer until you get it swapped out.

my junkyard tie-rod, complete, was $15. The one I'm using now, brand new with everything, came from NAPA and it was less than $65.

You gotta be smart enough to shop around. I checked Checker, NAPA, Autozone, Advanced, etc. I found the cheapest price on each component, then took the printouts into NAPA and they price matched everything. $65, with tax, was the result.

Arch Stanton The Crown HD Steering Kit that I purchased had a Rough Trail label on the box. Rough Trail is Crown's brand.

geiman Sounds like it's made by Crown, other than that I know nothing about it. Might be the same thing as the other Crown kit discussed earlier.

Moroney167 So local salvage yard has the steering knuckle I need. 65 bucks can't argue and its nci to go put hands on it and its within a few miles of my house too which rocks.

Now hard part is I need to sell all this damn Teraflex stuff on the jeep so i have money to order all the new steering stuff.

Moroney167 So when ya'll say Moog parts yoru saying just get all moog replacement ends and run what tierod and drag link. Thats my problem I don't have any of it. So I do have to buy it all. I would preffer getting whatever is easiest to always get parts for (so I do favor the moog parts) and decent quality. Anything over stock strength with be plenty for me.

Barrie I have had the Crown kit on my Jeep for over a year now with no issues.
08-08-2011 09:03 AM
geiman Do a little research before you buy the crown; I've seen more than a few bad reviews on it, mainly from quality issues. I'd listen to the guys telling you to look at Moog parts.
08-08-2011 08:04 AM
Arch Stanton You may get a Crown HD kit that has the wrong sized tie rods. There is a thread somewhere to on this forum regarding the tie rod sizing. I think that the Moog parts are better quality. I upgraded the dust boots with Energy Suspension boots. I read that the Crown boots cracked after a few months. Supposedly they have switched to better quality boots. Good luck with your choice.

You can get all the parts at your local NAPA. If your drag link isn't bad, then just keep it and buy a V8 ZJ tie-rod.

I run a NAPA V8 ZJ tie-rod and it's holding up well on 33s.

And what do you mean. The tie rod and draglink and all ends or just moog ends for the crown setup.

Crown HD steering vs Currie

Looking to get all new steering setup. Now I understand the reviews of curries system takes the cake. And a lot of people say just spend the extra bucks and get it. however, its double the bucks.. 200-400 is a tuff one. Jeeps got a 4' lift and all that good stuff. But I honestly am not that abusive to the jeep. And even when I am im as smart as I can be when rock crawlin (few times a year maybe). Otherwise im in some trails and not really going nuts. Enough that my stock YJ steering setup with hammered old ends made it threw. SO my view is lthough that currie setup it top notch, is there bad reviews on the Crown one? I mean as far as there specs go I can't argue its build and strength at all. Its my fun DD. So can someone justify its not a horrible idea to run it, being ith the extra 200 I am saving I can put towards a ton of other goodies?

Thanks
