|NAVYCHIEF||i think i'm going to leave the tire as is and mount my ammo can on the inside of the tailgate. only accessable with the gate open and kinda outta site (to the most casual observer).|

|tnjeeprider||I have a nice locking console with power outlet and drink holders between my seats. I am not scared of water.|

|4Jeepn||I would have kept the spare on the back and put the 20mm between the front seats. That way you don't have to get wet looking for what ever is in it. But its your jeep so do what you like.|

|tnjeeprider||Mount it inside the rear area up against the driver side rear fender well. I had thought about mounting it in the rear area like the baja style ones, but decided it would take up to much room.|

Spare tire to ammo can pictures
Sorry, some how my first thread posted by accident ( fat fingered it I guess ). Here are the pictures. My next plan is to attach the old spare tire carrier to a plate and mount it inside the back area up against the fender well. I will post pictures when I do it.
I am going to buy or make some pin locks to secure the lids on all three ammo boxes this week.
let me know what you think about the project.

Project: spare tire removal (ammo can replacement )
Hello all, hopefully in the very near future I am going to paint my green 95 YJ in desert camo. I just put on 31's yesterday and decided I did not want the spare mounted on the tail gate anymore. I removed the spare, holder and 3rd tail light. I had a 20mm ammo can and I painted it Kahki and ounted it using the 5 holes from the spare tire carrier. I removed the rubber spacers. You can see just barely in one of the pictures that I bolted on of the rubber bumpers on the end of the spare tire stop so the tailgate will not hit the stoplight.
I also had two smaller ammo cans that I mounted on the rear fender well tops.
