I not understanding how y'all are busting them.
A 3 bolt puller works fine, I have pulled literally 1000s of them. and that should be a little RTV in the keyway, keeps oil from leaking.

Wow! It does look like someone tack welded it - the idiot!
If so, you may have to use a very sharp chisel and shatter it more, taking it off a piece at a time. Be careful not to mar the crankshaft surface.
That part of the damper is cast, so it will shatter with the right whack.
If you can get a puller to grab it, try heating the piece before trying to pull it.
Or - you could weld a hunk of steel on the remains and grab onto that.
The tack weld - try to remove as much as you can with a dremel.
After it's off - use fine Emory cloth to restore the marks.
It won't be easy, but it's still easier than putting in a new crank.

|raz175||From your picture it looks as though the damper has been tack welded to the end of the crank (12 o'clock position). If that's the case you'll have to grind through the weld to get it off. Not sure why someone would do that though...|

|geiman||Yeah I'm going to guess that some kind of jaw puller is going to be your best bet. You can rent them from the auto parts store so if you get one that doesn't fit correctly to pull it off you can exchange it. Other than that, I'm not sure what else to tell you.|

Dang. Were you using the three bolt holes to pull it off?
Well. doesn't really matter now. Try using a bearing spreader, like used with a press, and a two jaw puller

|geiman||Could you grab a picture for us? If there is enough of it left, you could probably get a 2 or 3 jaw gear puller to pull it off. If that won't work and enough broke off that you can get the cam out, you may have a better chance getting if off by taking out the cam and working on it that way. If we can see what you're dealing with we can help you better.|

harmonic balancer trouble!!!!!
ok so i have a 98 wrangler 2.5 i was removing the balancer and it shattered now all that is left is the center of it stuck on the crank anyone have any idea how to get it off now
