|OdhinnsChick||We put the K&N in the mustang and to be honest, there wasn't much of a difference. Not sure how it effects the jeeps.|

If your getting water in the stock airfilter just imagine how much youll get in an open filter....I think the KN and the closed setup is prob the safest way ta go if running thru shallow mud or water on a regular basis.....
Id also be surprised if you actually see those kinds of gains from an open filter

We have 2 '07 wranglers, both with K&N. I would save up for the airaid filter charger $224 shipped (ebay) it gives you 14hp and 24tq. Now you will feel that ! wether you get the filter or the whole kit, you will hear a slight whistle around 2,000rpm from the extra air going in. Its not noticeable on the 6spd, but it is on the AUTO. Dont get me wrong, is not loud or annoying.

Yes it is worth the $50. You will get less air restriction over stock filter, and you don't have to change it, just check it with every oil change, and if its dirty, wash it, and put it back in. I had it on my previous car and never had to worry about new filter. Here is the filter cleaning kit: http://www.knfilters.com/clningacc.htm You can purchase it at Pep Boys.
I know you don't have to change your air filter every 3 months, but to give you an example here is my story. I really with i purchased K&N for my Jeep before this happened. I went off-roading and while crossing water/mud, i got some of it inside my air box. But i didn't know this until Sunday when i decided to open it up. About 3/4 of the filter is filled with light brown color mud. Now, if i had K&N i would just take it out and wash it, but now i have to get a new one instead, and most likely its going to be K&N filter.

I was wondering whether or not to purchase a K&N Air filter for my 08 jk. Is it worth it for the 50 bucks? and if it is what are the advantages over the standard jeep air filter? If anyone has installed it already let me know what you think.
Here is the website of it off Quadratec
