4Jeepn 1st I would have the battery checked out. OR swap in a battery you know is good and see what happens.

Wench aside from teh tune-up...

get a can of seafoam and dump it into your fuel tank when you are sitting at 1/4 of a tank..the fuel filter inside the tank may have some trash built up around it...it will also clean your fuel lines and injectors

kjeeper10 I would deff start with the plugs, cheap and easy and go from there. If a tune-up does not help, then you have to look into the fuel system. Almost positive with that mileage (near 160 km) a tune up will help you

bmcraddock Brilliant, thanks, will give that a try...

146,000 kms on the clock, is there any other useful info i can give you now to help with the diagnosis?

kjeeper10 Need more info

Depending on mileage a good tune up including cleaning the TB and IAC Is always first to be recommended.

Help please

Hi guys,

I've recently bought a '97 TJ, which is my first Jeep and great fun, however in the last few days its developed a problem...

Starting is sluggish as if the battery is flat and when it starts it won't idle if I take my foot off the accelerator. It settles down and idles ok after a few minutes and drives fine, however if I blip the throttle then take my foot off it dies. Any ideas what this might be, I live in the UAE and the garages are not always that good so I kind of need to diagnose the problem myself before taking it to be fixed?!

Cheers,
Ben
