DownandDirty If you want to keep it simple, find another 4.0 so it will be a plug and play swap. If you upgrade to a V8, you will have to make some additional drivetrain upgrades other than just motor mounts and exhaust.

blueJeeps 1st thing its an inline six not a V6, If I recall any of the FI 4.0 will work but the later ones are better, from like '96 and newer.
Another popular swap seems to be a 4.3 GM V6 you will need an adapter and motor mounts.
Advance Adpaters and Novak both have a lot of info on these swaps.

91 YJ engine swap. Need some help.

Link to the '91 Wrangler I want to buy.

The guy said the only real problem is the engine. It has 240,000 on it and it's a V6. I know they last long, but it's at the point where it's time to swap out.

I was wondering what engines I can swap into it that'll make a nice fit without any extra work involved. What year Cherokees, or wranglers can I swap?

Thank you, a lot.
