|Fallujahcoyote||I put a Banks Pro Power 2 1/2 " full exhaust on a 2000 4.0 w/5spd. Love it, sounds great, quicker throttle response and increased power. I have not had any problems yet and would recomend the upgrade. Install was 2 years ago and about 50,000 miles|

I have gone through 5 headers in the past 9 years with banks. the current design lasted 2 months. I have been driving with it cracked because I didn't want to deal with another replacement. While I did like the sound and look of the new one, and have been told mine is the first one to crack (must have been the first batch).
I have had problems this time with customer service as well, and am trying to resolve the issue.
just a heads up.
my jeep is a 99 with a 4.0L.

|Neil F.||Just a FYI, Banks headers (as well as Gibson) are also known to crack. The header design improved with the addition of flex joints on later models and are available on replacements.|

No O2 sensor codes ever come up regardless of the vehicle, just the cats work better and shows up with cleaner emissions. I swap shop services for the coatings so I get every car and truck I own done.
As far as coating everything I haven't seen that done yet but I'll bet someone has by now. I have coated the inside of plastic valve covers and it has held for 2 years now so it may work.

|HarryJeepGuy||I'm going replace my header soon too and was thinking about getting it ceramic coated also. Does this affect the O2 sensors at all? Have you had any issue with yours? I wasn't sure if the extra heat getting to them would throw a code... I'm replacing the entire exhaust actually and know a guy that does ceramic coating, so I'm toying with the idea of ceramic coating everything. Think that would cause problems?|

If anybody is going to replace their headers do yourself a great favor and install a heat insulator between the intake and header. This is a tremendious flaw in the 4.0. Without any shielding the intake air is super heated by the header and that robs power (yes, I'm waiting for the hate posts saying it doesn't matter, but I'm sorry it does).
This Banks header was a pet project at Banks and a lot of research and developement went on for 2 years before going to market (Banks doesn't make headers for any cars, in fact Jeep headers are the only non truck/motorhome vehicle headers they make). Also note how a Banks header matches the ports exactly to the heads, something you don't find in most other headers, True, they are even quieter at speed then stock but they are tuned to evacuate the exhaust from the cylinders very precisely through the engineered pipe lengths and the relation to the next attached pipe scavaging exhaust. I had my header ceramic coated inside and out to reduce underhood temps and make the cats really light up. I should mention that I also installed Duramat insulation to keep the floors by my feet cool to the touch.

Install and everything took me (alone) about 4 1/2 hours but im pretty experienced with this stuff so if your new expect it to take longer. It wasn't really a pain in the ass, but getting the manifold itself out was difficult
Power gains were defiantly noticeable for me, but remember I had cracks in my stock manifold so I was used to driving with that.
Sound is good, but if your looking for something loud then I wouldn't go with this. It makes a nice clean sound, and at idle is very throaty and has a nice deep tone to it. Not obnoxiously loud at all, just sounds good.
I highly recommend it as an upgrade from stock.

Banks Power Headers Review And Direction (sort of)
Hello everyone, so today I finally installed the exhaust manifold that has been sitting in my garage in its box for 3 weeks due to me dreading the install of it. But in reality, if you know what your doing its wasn't that bad.
First I took off the stock headers, which by the way I was changing because it had cracks all over it and was a major performance flaw. To take it off, the night before I sprayed all of the bolts with PB Blaster (sprayed it 3 times in 10 minute intervals) so then when I got to it in the morning they would be nice a soaked. I didn't have to many problem getting the bolts off believe it or not, I just used a torque wrench and unscrewed them very slowly to make sure i didn't break or strip them. Then to do the bolts on top I disconnect the power steering pulley which let it loose then managed to fit the manifold out of the bottom with a good amount of force ( ). then took off the basically demolished gasket, put some header glue on the new gasket, put it on, put the new headers on and then put everything back together.
The new manifold is a hugggeee improvement from stock, and the cracks in the stock one probably add to how good this one feels. Either way, it sounds amazing, gives the exhaust a nice sound at idle, and is quite when at speed. All around im impressed with this thing and ill defiantly be buying from them again.
