there are two companies on the world that build the series wound electric engines that are used in all winches. and they both are i a country that starts with the letter C

my china winch is like the smittybilt winch (but has 12.000 lbs) and works fine. a warn is only a bit faster. but if you don´t have the mony for a warn a china winch is better than no winch. if i get stuck it doesn´t matter to me if i need 4 or 5 minutes to winch me out of the mud.

btw yeah my 35 are installed...

Triple88a ok good so you have metal plug.. you have D44 as BigJeep said. I'd go with 35s and then replace the gears in the axles with 4.88 and be happy and done with the running gear (for a little bit until another bug bites you).

GrnTJ I've got a Warn 8000lb. winch and its always been more than enough to yank my rig from ANY stuck situation. Trust me, I have been in some DEEP stuff. I think the power of that Smitty Bilt winch will be plenty for him.

good to hear you have dana 44 ...which means you have 3.73's

nicolas-eric my jeep actually weights 4800 lbs with full tank and 2 persons and my offfroad utilitys.
with the parts i ordered it weights about 5000 lbs.
it´s stock empty weight was 3700 lbs.

the winch has it´s full power only on the lowest cable layer. on the upper layer it has 1/4 to 1/2 less power.
my 12.000 lbs winch has only 7700 lbs on the upper layer.

take a look at this little freeware program and you´ll see that a 12.000 lbs winch istn´t too big for a TJ: http://www.dirfile.com/off_the_road_...calculator.htm

but if you only drive on rocks or dirt roads 8.000 lbs will be ok.
10-20-2007 07:10 AM
debruins hmmmmm, i dont think that you would need that much power, the jeep only weighs 3000-4000 lbs do you really need 3X that, i thinkn an 8k lb winch will be fine as long as your not in mud up to the door handles!
10-20-2007 05:14 AM
nicolas-eric they come from china like all other cheap winches.
8,000 lbs is´t enough in my opinion.
on the upper rope layer it can only winch 4800 lbs, a full loaded TJ that´s stuck in deep mud needs more power.
i´ve a 12,000 lbs china winch. that´s stronger than this mall smittybilt thing.
a friends 9,5k lbs winch didn´t get me out of the mud a few times, my winch did it.

GrnTJ Smitty winch=good quality. They are on sale for $315 right now. Heres the link:

enjoy that.

debruins btw you wont need longer shocks
and i vote for the 1.25 JKS BL
10-19-2007 07:38 PM
nicolas-eric 1" BL and extended bumpstops or 2" BL and only a bit extended bumpstops...
10-19-2007 07:00 PM
1BLKJP All you are needing to do is give yourself a little more room in the wheel wells to tuck some 35's. A 1" BL is perfect for this and will not do any harm to your rig at all.

2x... to check which rear axle you have look at the rear differential. Does it have a rubber/plastic oil cap or is it metal one? While you're down there also read the little army looking tag thats bolted on to one of the bolts. See what it says... 3.73 or 3.xx...
10-19-2007 03:48 PM
mrbigjeep go with a 1" BL. 2" and 3" are ugly. just adjust your bumpstops.

but i do think its a dumb idea to go bigger because jimbo bob down the street has a bigger jeep...btw, what rear axle do you have?
10-19-2007 12:26 AM
acopsy88 sorry bout language... I got the first series kit.... i have talked to people saying nothin good comes from body lifts. But their are so many knowledgable people here i wanted their opinion.
10-19-2007 12:21 AM
Triple88a many say not to go w/ more than 1" of bl because "the bolts may rip off", I my self have a 2" Bl and i feel perfectly safe, I wouldn't go w/ 3" bl because then that will space the bumpers way to much from the body so it just looks weird and in my opinion ugly.

what kind of rc kit do you have? 4" susp w/ 2" bl should be good to clear 35s

with 35s you will probably need new gears, also it will be hard on your axles if you have d 35 in the rear.
10-19-2007 12:09 AM
4point You might want to clean up all the language in your post and in your sig. That would be a good start.

suspension and body lift question.

OK heres my question.I got a 4 inch rough country lift with 33s..I was wondering how much of a bodylift to put on to tuck 35s. Their are many reasons why i want to..Number 1 i want to go bigger. 2.)pro comp is buy 3 get 4rth free...what a good deal. 3.)I used to have the highest tj in town till a guybought a jeep with 4 inch lift and 35s. So what should i go with 1,2,or3 i know i dont have to get longer shocks but would i need to get anything else for the body lift? or should say fuck it buy new 33s get the smittybilt 8000lb winch for 299.99 and forget the 35sThanks adam
