If it's an automatic trans, sorry to say but that's what it sounds like. Something in the tranny is acting up.
And DO NOT install a larger fuse. Doing so could fry something like the wiring harness at least, or worse.

|Wallygator||Not a stronger fuse, they are blowing for a reason. Too much draw somewhere. Could be as simple as a cracked wire or bad ground but can be a bugger to track. A shop will be able to test how many amps the pump is drawing. Mine was drawing about 12. shoulda been about 5-6|

OK I'll have my mechanic check that stuff out! Also, sometimes when I'm accelerating, the engine or gears or something won't catch for a second so I'm revving in neutral then it will catch and the RPMs will go up and then drive normally. PLEASE tell me this isn't my transmission
Also, the fuse has blown. Twice. The metal part I can see has broken apart. Maybe a stronger fuse?

|Wallygator||If you had a new fuel pump installed I would say check the relay. If the old pump was drawing too many amps because ofbeing worn out the relay could be weakened.. Is the fuse actually blown or are yuoo just changing it. I thought it was my fuse and turned out to be my relay. By the time I swapped the fuse the relay was cooled off and would work again for a while. And never quit on short trips just after driving a while. Also did they put in a whole module? Cause the pressure regulators are know to go on the TJs. Also do another amp test I've seen new pumps that were bad right outta the box. Stay away from carter. Walbro is OEM. And Bosch is good. I went thru all this with my 03 and it can be a pain to track.|

|shooky||Fuses blow because too much electricity is being drawn through a wire. If the fuel pump is worn out or if a hot wire is touching ground it will flood the wire with electrons and the fuse is the weak link so it blows first rather than catching a wire on fire and burning the jeep to the ground. You should use an amp meter to see what amps are being pulled. Amps are like gallons per minute. Voltage is pressure. watts are the multiplied total.|

02 Wrangler stops while driving
I am having a problem with my 2002 Wrangler. The fuse (?) for fuel has blown twice, so I'd like to know how to prevent that and why it's happening because it's terrifying when the Jeep just shuts off while I'm driving...no brakes or steering and the hills where I live are STEEP. Before it shuts off the engine sort of sputters or hesitates; I'm not sure what to call it. When I'm coasting it sounds like the engine isn't even on it's so quiet. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
