El Gringo Fixed! Shortened the draglink slightly and the tie rod slightly,@ perfect. Took it to ford dealer and it was dead on so they didn't charge me (helps to know a guy there). The ford dealer had laser alignment. So the tie rod was to long from factory and was toed out from the get go.
And the truck driver did not fall asleep, it was a brand new rig and the driver said it pulled right slowly and it got away from him as he went under a bad overpass there and he over corrected, hit a k-rail and rolled it over. The overpass he rolled by has killed at least 12 ppl in the past 18 months. They are making a new bypass for it.

BManz Most roads have some grade to them to enable water runoff. So, on a 2-lane road many vehicles will tend to veer right. Alignment is not set to-the-right from the factory and I bet dealer service writers still state this nonsense as I've heard it repeated for over forty years.

What will help you is going to an alignment specialist who has a 4-wheel laser alignment system. It might cost you $100 but is money well-spent. The laser system is expensive so few shops that do "4 wheel alignments" will have the laser. At the expense of slightly shortened tire life, you could request just a bit more toe-in to help maintain straight-ahead travel on imperfect roads but a good alignment specialist should already know something about what works best for the JK. Your camber and toe are probably a bit off.

KSCRUDE Simple, truck drivers fall asleep at 2:59 in the morning. They will run off the road 3:00 am no matter their front end alignment. Most vehicles if driving in the right lane will run off the right side of the road due to the crown of the road. If you are running in the left lane same holds true, off the left side. Drive down the middle of the road and most vehicles will drive pretty straight, although this is illegal I do it sometimes to check if I am pulling one way or another. I live in in a very remote aera! Also beware of the wind as it will push you which ever way it is blowing. IE sidewinds can really make you feel like it is pulling but you are just compensating for the wind.

muddyjeep36 Have you taken it to an alginment shop. I work in one for about 6 years a vehcile will pull if one wheel has alot of +camber or -caster over the other wheel. If you have alot of toe in or out it will be all over the road. I have seen tires do it also but I see you are running goodyears never seen them have any issues.

It is worse on worse roads, as expected, but even on I-45 it still veers and always has, even before the lift.
In that case the passenger tire is toed out and drivers tire is toed in.

Yeah, mine has always veered right, I mean its not violent, but it is enough to notice. I aligned after the lift. just a half turn on the draglink.

Maybe I'm crazy!

In my ranger I could let go of the wheel for miles on the highway (not really) and it would go straight, in this thing I'm affraid to let go of the wheel for any amount of time as it needs near-constant pressure on the left side to keep her straight. The 10-ply 50 lb tires probably don't help any.

muddyjeep36 Are you sure it's not just the road crown. Rural roads have alot of road crown. You really can't have right toe it's ethier toe in or toe out.

MTH Didn't you lift 2.5"? You probably DO need an alignment. Check this out if you're thinking DIY: (http://project-jk.com/jeep-jk-write-...-end-alignment). I don't think they veer right straight from the factory.

I am not sure how anyone else feels about this, but this has been something that has always bugged me on my vehicles, until I correct it; the damn thing will not go straight!
They all come from the factory toed to the right and it is extremely annoying when you live in a poor rural area with even poorer roads. I have messed with my draglink for several hours today attempting to fix this, but to no avail.

Bottom line:
Does anyone know how to make the JK go straight? it has ~13K on it and does not need an alignment. I understand that they come from the factory toed right, for "safety", what a joke.


I would be willing to bet a paycheck that right toed factory suspensions have caused more accidents than vehicles that do not. The "reasoning" behind this is that if you are inattentive, it is safer for the vehicle to leave the roadway to the right vs left. Why not straight? vehicles that leave the right side of the roadway often over correct and flip, roll, head-on an oncoming vehicle. So why not straight?
Has anyone done this?
Part of what spurred me today was an accident I worked at 3AM this morning where a semi (toed right) rolled because it left the right edge of the roadway.
I don't want this to be my jeep:

As a side note: there is ~43,000 pounds of frozen shickens in that trailer.
