|Sicilian Inca||Has anyone had any issues with rattling after it is installed. I'm assuming the multitude if screws around the edges keep it tight but you never know. I'm getting one soon so just wanted to see if anyone has any issues with it. I've seen some thin rubber pieces that go in between some after market parts and the body to keep it from damaging the body.|

Eric Godsey of Bham-JK club, Helena, AL, sent us some photos of this interesting paint job he did with his Poison Spyder Hood Louver. According to Eric, "I found some heat sensitive paint that changes from black to clear at 86F, so I had to find a cool use for it. I’m going for a zombie build and have named the jeep “Hazard”, so...I primed it flat black to start with. I printed a decal of a biohazard symbol, cut it, applied and painted it white, color matched to my jeep. Peeled the stencil, then painted over it completely with the color changing black paint. This hides the white almost completely! Clear coated and mounted it. Once the engine heats it up past 86F, the black turns clear to show the biohazard symbol! Otherwise you have to look for it to see the outline." Very cool idea Eric! Eric's photos of the process:

Biohazard symbol painted white, stencil removed:
After applying the heat-sensitive paint, you can barely make out the symbol through it:

|Dougzin||I was just curious to how affective the Hood louver really would be. I have a 05 TJ with the 4.0 and live in Fort Irwin, CA. AKA gets really hot. My engine does run warm sometimes, and i know heat rises so is there any tests done to see just how much of a difference there is?|

I would love to order one of these hood louvers. However, I would really like to have black bolts instead of the silver. Does PSC offer black bolts with the assembly?
If, they do not offer the bolts in black does anyone know the size/shape etc?
Is the black a matte finish, semi-gloss, gloss or flat finish?
It would be nice to get the colour matched up with the original black paint on the Wrangler.
Lastly, I live in an area with 4 seasons. Will I see any additional wear and tear on the engine bay than if I kept the hood stock? Do you find a lot of dirt/debris/water damage....? Has anyone considered on lining the interior of the hood with some kind of mesh backing, which allows breathability and can withstand our environment?
Thanks in advance for your support!

|05unlimitededition||Got the hood louver and trail gate. And I love it. Finish on the metal was a little rough. But I guess it's a good thing I'm in the Autobody industry. But over all I'm satisfied.|

|DTS||Sorry there is no forum discount. Almost all of our customers are members of one or more of the forums we're on, so it would be kind of pointless.|

|DTS||Its sort of a semi-gloss black. Not quite satin, not quite gloss.|
|03-29-2013 02:02 PM|
Question on the Powder Coat.... Is a glossy black or a satin/matte black? I am wondering if it will closely match my bumpers that I had coated here locally. Which are satin. And they won't do it for just $30.
Or if I should I just go the bare metal route and toss them more money.

Got a 12" bar mounted on my Poison Spyder hawse fairlead light mount too!
Stay tuned for UFO sightings in Kentucky.

|DTS||We will have a 2013-specific one available at some point, but I don't have a specific date for it. We do not normally do single-item installs. But some of our dealers do installs. Try So Cal Supertrucks in San Bernardino or Brothers 4X4 in Pomona.|

|Steffen1601||I'd love to have that hood louver. Is it available for a 2013 JK with two nozzles? Also, do you know someone who would install it in the Corona/Riverside, California area?|
