|BlackedOutYJ||And yea my jeep heats up quick as well with the electric fan. But that's because the clutch fan is no longer spinning 24/7 keeping the engine cooler. The elec fan kicks in at 160 where as the stupid old clutch fan ran constantly.|

|HarryJeepGuy||If it's getting hotter with the fan on, it sounds like the fan is wired up wrong and blowing the wrong way. Either way, sounds like a bad setup. You can't be worried about temp all the time.|

As for everyone elses comments all valid stuff. I plan on flushing radiator and see what comes out. Flush the block. Then refill with some good coolant. Invest in a new cap for radiator and i'll take pump off block and replace thermostat and sensor just to ease my mind. Again so far not a chance it did it again, and I don't turn fan on it stays under 210 easy even with lights. If I turn it on the motor just gets hotter.

|BlackedOutYJ||Also you need to make sure your relay is set to keep it cool enough. My relay is adj for 160-210 deg. and also make sure your probe is in a good enough place to detect the right temp.|

I have the same issue, but my issue is the electric fan I installed doesn't turn at the sped it is suppose to, but even with it not turning as fast as it's suppose to it runs a little cooler than it did before. If I smack the motor of the fan with a wrench it will get up to speed like it's suppose to.
Just been spending all my extra money on my 8.8 swap. But I'll be getting a 2 speed electric fan from a SHO soon, contour, Taurus, ect.

|go501green||I had a similar problem but on my 65 Comet. When I purchased the car it had an electric fan and always ran hot, even at 70 mph. I took it off and put a regular fan on with no shroud ( didn't have one for it ) and now it runs nice and cool. Throw that fan in the garbage and get a stock metal 5 blade fan.|

I'm no fan of replacing the factory fan with an electric fan but I'm betting you have air in the cooling system that moves around. When the thermostat suddenly pegged, the air bubbles had moved into the thermostat housing next to the temperature thermostat. So basically you probably have air in your cooling system that needs to be burped out. Or... a thermostat with a bleed hole (OE or you can drill your own) can make trapped air a thing of the past as it will let air slowly bleed out and into the radiator where it can be passed.
They look like this... the first is commercially made, the second just has about a 1/8" hole drilled into it. Mount the thermostat so the air bleed hole is at the top.

|UnlimitedLJ04||electric fans flow less air than the stock 5-blade with a good fan clutch. lots of people have gone to electric fans, only to find they do worse and the engine overheats. i'll bet if you address the issue in your cooling system (water pump, thermostat, heater core, bad hoses, radiator, clogged/needing flushed, etc) and go back to the stock 5-blade setup with the stock type clutch, the heating issues will be resolved.|

Jeep Overheats WITH E-Fan on?!!?
So far I can't get it to do the same thing twice. In upstate NY so as of now its like high 50's at night into 80's for day. So far I just can't turn on my electric fan which is a big setup from the PO. It is ran straight to a manual switch. Anyway I let warm up in morning, drive to work all that fine. Maybe a minute or two at a light and no problems. Jeep stays under 210 without a problem. If I were to wake up let warm up and turn fan on for drive it will stay at 210/220 and if I stop it will just get hotter on the gauge. What the hell am I missing. The fan is installed right and is pulling through the rad. Last week it was hot and went a few minutes in traffic but I know theres no way that should overheat. I got off the highway and right into traffic. Left fan on and it just kept getting hot. I plan on replacing gauge sensor because it acted up all weird. Went from 220 or o in traffic and BANG into the red zone. Not climb or nothing. I was right near a friends shop so pulled in let idle in parking lot. Hit with infra-red temp gun and showed like 195-200 on return hose from rad. Showed 199 or so on top left of rad (pass side) into like 210 or so on intake bottom right. Block was 210, head was 210. Why would gauge bug out, which makes me think its all jus tnot right so I can't believe the gauge. What would actually make it run hotter if I have the fan switched on when I drive.
