Tmandorfer aight so now it blinks!!!! I took the front bulb out and cleaned the terminals on the bulb and the holder. Then took the rear out and checked and replaced. I have a bad feeling that when I put the replacement bulb in the rear, I might have installed it wrong. The bulbs have to posts on them and one is higher on the base of the bulb than the other. You can install the bulb but only one post will seat correctly. I noticed this when after I pulled the bulb and tried to replace it. So thanks to everyone for our help

2xs That is normal, they used to put that stuff in there to help cool and isolate the circuits. nowadays we use Dielectric grease....

60mg BTW, do all 6 of the lights work if you turn on the hazard lights?
09-03-2011 03:07 PM
60mg I'd make sure the contacts where you stick the bulb are clean and try a different bulb or just try it on another side to make sure it works. I doubt there is anything wrong with the wiring inside the. Normally contacts are the one screwing things up

Well i pulled apart the front bulb assembly and look what I found. I pretty well covered in grease and im not sure if the inside is covered in grease or what the hell this stuff is. Sorry its a little blurry, tell me what you think is going on?

So, check what's happening with your headlights on and if the blinker goes solid with headlights on and turn switch off, try to either replace the front bulb or switch it with the other side to see if the problem travels over with the bulb. Although it sounds as a possibility, I bet its the bulb not the blinker. Sorry if its too confusing Good luck
Well my problem doesn't have anything to do with my head light, but im gonna pull the flasher canister again and replace it. Does anyone know how to check this with a meter and what are the required readings? Gonna open up the front bulb assembly and check that too. Guess we will find out. anybody got anything else?

POS YJ I'd go get a new flasher. I think they are only $5.99. Even if it doesn't fix it, it is one less thing that you will have to troublshoot. It seems like it may fix it since your symptoms changed after you turned the flashers on. Good Luck. Electrical gremlins suck.

So I walked outside real quick and checked the front bulb and it does work, but wont blink either. Everything works, it just wont blink. So other than checking the ground wire (which one, front or rear, or both?) anything else? I have a dash bulb out over the speedometer, would that effect any of this?

Nope just the rear bulb, and I changed the blinker fuse but then neither of them worked, so I stuck the old one back in. And the bulb works so the contacts are fine I would assume, but we all know what assuming does!

Cant get my left turn signal to blink, please help

So this is really starting to annoy me and I need yall's help. Here is what I have done 1) changed the bulb 2) replaced the fuse and then neither worked so i put the old fuse back in. I have noticed that the right tail light bulb is brighter than the left. Also When I turn the left turn signal on it just stays on and doesn't blink. So what gives? Any help is better than no help. Thanks everyone
