The dana 18 is pretty weak compared to the dana 20 and 300, plus its offset limits the axle swap ability, pretty much rover axles, waggy axles, sammi axles, cruiser axles, or a custom built axles.

myanarchy probably a dana 18, if you're swapping axles might as well swap the case for a centered rear and use either a 20 or 300 case.

Badge1236 A Dana 300 or even a Dana 20 should hold up. You may have to get an adapter depending on the transmission. I would be more worried about the transmission than I would be the transfer case.

debruins hmm im no expert on this kinda stuff, buti know the twin stick is pretty strong, but if your in 4 lo with a chevy and up against something iiddkk

payj90 and if the t case is not up to the job what should i look for to replace it. i can in thoery cut the axles to put the pinion where ever i need them

48 cj3a transfer case

im working on a 48 cj 3a, it going to have a small block chevy. i want to upgrade to dana 44s building the axles isnt the problem. i was just wondering what the stock transfer case will hold up to.
