Redsand budget boost, their spacers that go on top of your coils, usually around an inch or two in height,

bc3_Jeep Not a single mention of Superwinch..... I am disappointed. I have a 16.5 EP one of those and it is a BEAST......took it of my 74 CJ5 tank......

If you are looking for a winch that will not stop..... drop me a line and maybe we can talk turkey on a swap or something...... mebc3_2@yahoo.com

Jerry Bransford I won one of Milemarker's American-made 2-speed 10,500 lb. hydraulic winches years ago at a 4x4 event's raffle. That sucker was so heavy I nearly had to drag it back to my campsite. I sold it in favor of keeping my Warn electric but that just goes to show you that Xjman's suggestion can work. Heck I won stuff at nearly all my first first five year's worth of 4x4 event raffles including my Powertrax No-Slip locker.

That said, I don't think I've won ANYthing at the various 4x4 event's raffles in the past 10 years. Too many people now buying $250-$500 worth of raffle tickets win most of the booty which ruins it for the rest of us.
09-05-2011 07:26 PM
Xjman1 Just do like me, go to offroad events that support our sport and enter the raffles. I have had two winches in the past and have used them all but twice. I have ran Calico, Big Bear, Johnson Valley, Moab, etc. but both times I have used them was to help someone else of a high center situation.
I am debating now whether to buy a cheap winch just to have one, but based on my past usage I will not be spending big bucks on one, American or Chinese made. As a matter of fact I just missed on posted this morning on Craigslist for $100, Warn 8000#.

Not sure why you think that was the start of something...I said my piece. The only rebuttal I'd have anyway would just be repeating myself...

As for your "how to make friends" advice, worry about yourself newbie Anyway, joking aside, I highly doubt you'll find many here who would actually choose their Jeep over their family. A few may joke about it, but most realize there are far more important things in the world...
09-05-2011 07:07 PM
Jerry Bransford I think it all boils down to this...

If you rarely offroad and don't plan to do trails where winching is a common thing, one of the Chinese winches will probably be ok. I don't LIKE Chinese winches and hate sending $$$ to China but....

But if you are an ardent offroader, do trails that winches are commonly needed on, and you place yourself on trails where a winch's assistance can be expected to be needed, I think you'd be smart to stick with a good quality American made winch like Warn or Ramsey and a fool to buy a cheap Chinese import.

The Engo appears to be a winch that works well through many different conditions, I never heard of them until I read the Winch comparison though, and since they're the new guys on the block, there really isn't much information on them, or their warranty, or customer service yet. What would happen if you got a steal of a price now, but a year later it failed on you and the company didn't exist anymore?

I have a problem with this attitude: "I buy what I buy based on value"

Translated: "I buy the cheapest thing that will get me by."

Fine attitude...but for me, I'd rather live with what I have, and upgrade to something of high quality when I can. I don't care where its manufactured, so long as the quality is high. Guess what...that attitude doesn't take me to China very often. Computer motherboards? A NEED based purchase (for my work)? Not much choice...its hard to find anything not made in China. Jeep accessories? A PURE "want" based purchase? I can buy high quality American time and time and time and time again...may take me awhile longer, but given I don't NEED that stuff...I can wait.

Your money, do what you want. The fact is the "issue" here is standard of living - so long as there are places in the world with low standards of living, we're going to outsource work there. And so long as people feel like luxuries are "necessities" they'll continue buying cheap crap so they can have as much as the next guy. Eventually, the world will balance out...we're going to experience some serious stagnation here though.

Key in the brand name, part number, and then sort it based on lowest price first. I always give it a mininum price to look for so it only shows what you're looking for and doesn't also show you low-cost replacment parts, winch cables, etc. for the winch part number you look up.
I use the above mentioned everytime I shop for parts I also like Amazon as well. I don't do the Ebay thing, but I know many people that do and have good luck with it.

While the white collar big wigs are saving money for themselves, the hard working average Joes are being put out on the street by the thousands. I dont know where you work, but if America keeps this attitude maybe your boss will decide to let your ass go because sales are being lost and some Korean dude will do your job for half the labor. "Out of a job yet? Keep buying foreign shit!"
Lol, everything in this post says I wanna heated debate. Guessing you don't own anything foreign? Or anything made in America with foreign parts? TV, computer, phone, etc? Wanna take money off those American's tables that sell or assemble affordable foreign products? Why does cheap mean made cheap? If those big American companies that are mostly owned by foreigners would quit padding their pockets so much, you would see that they could sell their products at or around the same price as their foreign counterparts. Wait, they can't do that because that would automatically mean they are cheap peices of crap. Don't be pissed at the people that can't afford to buy American because the Americans are too greedy to drop their prices. Oh, and don't get me started on the UAW. Americans putting their own companies out of business because they can't work for less than 40+ bucks an hour watching a machine assemble cars.

I don't ask for handouts, and I won't hand out my money to anyone just because they're here in America, I buy what I buy based on value, not where it was manufactured. Don't preach to me, preach to your congressman and ask them to increase the import taxes on goods made outside of America so that American companies can compete, then complain to your boss about why you need more money to support your family because all of a sudden everything you need to buy costs 3 times as much money and you need a raise... if everything is equal across the board, cost, quality, etc, and the only difference is made in the USA or made abroad, then I will buy USA made 100% of the time, but if the price difference is several hundred bucks, then I'm going to buy the cheaper one. More money in MY pocket supports the US Citizen I care about the most, MYSELF...

rda616 The worst part about trade with china is when they sell goods here it's an import tax of 2% when we sell a buick there it's 24% . So not only do they export cheaper keeping costs lower but the chinese government is able to use the moneys collected on the goods we export to subsidize a lower cost of living and allowing for lower wages.
