|1995yj318||Yup the PCM controls the engine and trans. Plus wiring the whole shebang is fairly straight forward.|

|RustedYJ||I should have been a little clearer. 5.9 Magnum is actually what I'm thinking for the Dodge motor. Is the transmission controller part of the engine controller for those motors?|

|1995yj318||I would go 5.2 or 5.9 magnum. But then again I am working on it now.|

I'm going to install a Dodge 318 and a 727 4x4 automatic into my '89 YJ. It will mate up to my NP231 without adapters. I pulled the trans out of a '85 Dodge Ramcharger.

The Chevy LS series are great motors, and with the 4.8l or 5.3l you can have the 4L60E or 4L80E. The 4L80E is a Turbo 400 with overdrive, the better choice but more expensive.

V8 and auto trans swap
I'm thinking about my build (89 YJ). I'm planning a V8 and automatic transmission but trying to decide what mill to go with (Dodge 360 and Chevy 350 are my top picks) and what transmission to make the swap as simple as possible. I'm planning to keep the NP231 TC and would like to have something that mates to that fairly easily (Novak or Advance for adapters, etc). I'd prefer to get all the parts from one donor vehicle. What do you all think?
