|Joe Dirt 357||You are right I got $500 off and about $1,000 than I expected on my trade in they know the new V6 is what we want if you can wait 10 to 12 months you may get a deal for a 12 when the 2013s come out. I've never paid full price for a car this was the first time. Even my 97 TJ I got $2,500 off.|

12 JKUR did great I thought I has it locked the whole time but after looking in the manual I found out it will only lock in 4L.
But I was able to go anywhere I wanted with it in 4H and airing down to 20 psi just loved how the vehicle performed.
If you have been to Red Sands before you know if you don’t have a 4x4 your going to get stuck there was about 5 or 6 pick-ups stuck. I tried to pull one out but lacked the a** to move him his 4x4 wouldn’t go in to 4 wheel drive.
There was a new F150 with the new V6 they did great too but I didn’t see him clime in the loose sand I went to the top of the first hill no problem except for one real steep spot had to go around. I will try it again this weekend now that I know how to use the lockers and see if I can make it then.

|Joe Dirt 357||East side of El Paso County if you don't have 4x4 you will sink in the loose sand|

I have a JKUR black auto with 4.10s and the new engine. It is defiantly faster then the 2011 but I'm not sure about the fuel savings yet. I could of got 3,000 off the 2011 JKUR in white manual but two things stopped me one I just got rid of a 97 TJ white and I wanted the new engine.
I'm taking it out today to Red Sands to bake it in.

To give a status on this; He is still working on finding a good deal for me, I told him what you guys has told me about the 2011 vs 2012, and stuff, and he said that he would check with different suppliers and if they would ask around as well.
He said he will have an answer for me this week.

Jeep has a demartment in Denmark, but its acting as a subdivision in mercedes dealers. Jeep Denmark's selection is limited, and e.g. with the wrangler they can only get the "Sport" trim and only get the 2.8 diesel.
Importers, can get all trims/models of the wrangler and for a cheaper price than what Jeep Denmark can get.
Aftersales is also cheaper with the importer vs Jeep denmark.

Interesting dilemma. Zero knowledge of European sales and delivery. Is your importer local or in a Free Zone (say Nederlands). I do recall MB and BMW had/has programme, you order your vehicle direct, drive it in Europe for 'x' amount of time, and they then ship it to North America for you. Something like that.
Is there a Jeep office in Europe? Perhaps check and arrange with them. The way it sounds is there is no 'authorised' Jeep dealer in Scandinavia and you're buying via a 4th party, your agent, his agent, sales agent, real seller in USA.

Here's the way I look at it- get whichever trips your trigger.
In three years, get something else.
I've bought and sold, kept, traded, you name it vehicles over the course of my life- and it all seems to come out in the wash. The big deal isn't, IMO, the difference between the 11 and the 12, but the 11 and whatever comes next for Jeep.
For people who like to flip rides- go with the 12. I'm a hoarder.

|ljrubitm||If it does not come to much of a saveing between the 11- 12 just get the 2012. The new motor, from what I read makes a big differance.|

Just what he told me....
But I will see what he comes up with on monday.

I can't understand why the savings isn't worth it.
Last week I bought an '11 JKU Rubi loaded with Nav and Leather for only a few hundred dollars more than a 2012 SPORT with 24S package.
So...the difference between a 2011 and 2012 JKU Rubi is huge right now.

When he asked about optional extras; I said I wanted 4.10 gear ratio, auto tranny and a hard top, colorwise I am pretty flexible, but I perfer eighter white, grey or black.
He said he would calculate a price on both a 2011 and a 2012 model for me and get back to me on monday.

The importers supplier in the US is still working on finding a good deal on a 2011. So he had to postpone it another day.
Just for info.

|2011_Rubicon||For 10,000 difference in price, get the 11, whether its auto or manual! That's way too much of a jump in price for one year, given they are equally equipped with options.|

|panthermark||If it is a manaul with 4.10's......stop reading this thread. Log off your computer. Call him back and buy it....now.|

|daggo66||For 10K off, the 2011 is a no brainer, especially for the manual trans if it is.|
|08-31-2011 12:07 PM|
Both are gas, and yeah I know the 2012 has a better engine and transmission.
But he is awaiting a reply from his supplier in the US, so he will have a quote for me tomorrow (at least thats what he said).
I will update as soon as he gets back to me.
|08-31-2011 11:59 AM|
What is the deal? (Difference in price?)
What are the options? Auto or manual? 3.73's or 4.10's?
|08-31-2011 11:59 AM|
|daggo66||Are these both diesel? If so it doesn't matter. If petrol, then the 12 is a better engine.|

Need opinions; 2011 vs 2012 Rubicon
Long story short;
I talked to an importer today, and he could not give price better then the listed price on a 2012 model, but might be able to give me a good deal on a 2011 model.
What do you think I should do ? ..pay full price for the 2012 or get a good deal on a 2011 model?
