|Hemi YJ||I use a 5-45RFE. Strong as Hell and has a double overdrive. If I had $25,000.00 sitting around I might throw a "real" Hemi in mine too. But I'll settle for 18-20mpg and 450hp. No complaints here.|

|Hemi YJ||I did it and the aftermarket is big enough. But like any major build there is a lot that you're going to have to do yourself.|

As for putting a hemi in, that hit me on my drive home last night. itd keep it all mopar and id like that. who has done that and is the after market as big for the hemi?

ahh this looks familiar. i really wanted an LS1 too, but it really isnt that neccessary.
Many guys bore and stroke the 4.0 and keep everything the same, some guys change out axles, and mix and match all over. you may wanna check out my thread, a lot of guys weighed in on my decision, and i finally came up with my plan. also you may look deeply into novak-adapt's website, as they have just about everything you need to know for any GM (and most other) swaps.
believe it or not my economical MPG came out best with a 5.3, 4 spd, and 373 gears, but to each his own, check mine out here.
my final setup is on the last page, but theres a lot of good info in there

ls1 YJ transplant
I just graduated from college and need to replace the jeep i sold to put me through college. I figured I would by a newer tacoma but then got to thinking, why spend 20,000 grand on a "family" truck? I dont have a family, so why not build a jeep? So I am thinking of doing another YJ '94 or '95. I want to go LS1 for power, after market availability, MPG's etc.
so I had a few questions for my fellow jeepers.
1st. what does a swap cost?
2nd. best year LS1 to get?
3rd. What standard tranny should I use?
4th. What kind of MPG's should i expect with 33's
5th. I can do this all in my garage correct?
6th. If there is a better V8 swap let me know.
All help will be greatly appreciated and i can't waite to get this under constuction.
