Jeep lover soon to be owner
Hi folks. If anyone can appreciate my story, ya'll can!
Here we go... My uncle Jeff had a 1979 CJ7 (I think). I loved it. We used to take the top off and ride through the sandy woods of the Florida panhandle. Across creeks, up and down hills... It was a beautiful dark blue metallic and I absolutely adored him (still do) and his Jeep (been a Jeep lover for 25-30 years).
I've wanted a Jeep ever since. For various reasons over the years, I simply haven't gotten one. But on Sept 6, 2011, I placed my order for a 2012 JK Rubicon. I'm getting it in Dozer. I'm so excited!
I decided 2-3 years ago that my next vehicle would be a Jeep Wrangler. Been talking it up big time for months! I test drove a 2009, 2010, 2011... And had planned on getting a 2012 around March of next year, but when it came out, I simply could not resist. Within a week of it hitting the lots here in Austin, I was accidentally behind the wheel of one.
Back last May I was in Normandy, France. (I grew up in France). I bought a D-Day Jeep keychain to one day hang on my very own Jeep Wrangler key. It's been hanging on my cube wall at the office since then.
I found out today, Sept 17, that my JK is now in "D" status with no allocation issues. By next week, it should be in D1, have a gate #, a VIN, as well as a ship-date and estimated delivery date at the dealership.
I've been a quiet observer of the forum for the last year or so. I've enjoyed your posts, the information, the pictures... Ya'll seem like a great bunch of folks.
I am so excited about hitting he trails with the top down. The first drive is going to be an emotional one for me. I can't wait for my uncle to ride in it too! Looking forward to our next backpacking trip. We usually do some off roading in Colorado while we are up there.
Gonna miss my Z71 a little. It's been a great truck. I've used it a lot... Might have to buy a small trailer. But I'm stoked about my new Jeep Wrangler!
